It was one of the most notorious political crimes in U.S. history. The early morning arrest of five burglars on June 17, 1972, and discovery of wiretapping devices planted inside the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, would unravel a sprawling criminal conspiracy and cover-up perpetrated at the highest levels of American government. Reaching deep into the unrivaled CBS News archive, the documentary reveals how the broadcast network kept uncovering new details through the groundbreaking reporting of legendary anchor Walter Cronkite and fellow network correspondents. It includes rare outtakes and exclusive archival interviews that vividly bring to life President Nixon and his closest aides, including Watergate co-conspirators John Dean and H.R. Haldeman, as well as those who investigated and prosecuted these unprecedented crimes.

John Anderson Wall Street Journal While hardly exonerating the 37th commander-in-chief, the show avoids the caricaturish portrayals of Nixon that seem to come so easily and poses the important questions. Jun 15, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

dan r ‘Watergate: High Crimes in the White House' is the sort of documentary which educates you on a famous historical event and for the better. SYNOPSIS: ‘Follows the crime and scandal that took down President Richard Nixon'. The Watergate story is one which has never really gone away but was a story I wasn't fully aware of. The story is so implausible you sort of feel it can't be real as it's part caper, crime story, part tragedy and political intrigue. Initially fobbed off as a third rate robbery the story soon escalates into crackpot schemes, skullduggery, paranoia, payoffs, betrayals and, career suicide. The documentary really delves deep into America's biggest constitutional crises, an event that really could've brought down the country. Well worth a watch! 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
