Audience Member Featuring a stellar cast, production by Oliver Stone, and direction (in part) by Kathryn Bigelow, the mini-series Wild Palms is a unique blend of drama and science fiction that feels only barely removed from the early 90s moment in which it was conceived. Somewhere between Twin Peaks and cyberpunk lies Wild Palms, a surreal descent down the rabbit hole of shifting realities and mind control that doesn't quite cohere into something truly masterful but provides plenty of well-crafted, thought-provoking fun nonetheless. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent flick about evil corporations, psychoactive substances, and the birth of holographic TV. While it's set in 2007 but, could be a reality for us in less than 5 years or so. With so much on the horizon about 3D TVs and their programming this film paints a dark & realistic view of pitfalls to come. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out now! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Gave this a re-watch only to find that it didn't hold up as well as one might hope, but still has some nice stylish flourishes. I'd almost compare it to David Lynch in certain aspects, but it ultimately loses points due to James Belushi's sketchy acting abilities. Worth a look, but nothing mind-blowing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member The series is currently being shown back-to-back on TV now - True Movies 2 channel for those residing in the UK, which is odd, since "Wild Palms" was set in the future (2007) and therefore doesn't qualify as a true story. But I digress. I loved "Wild Palms" the first time it was shown, although I felt it suffered from being hyped as the next "Twin Peaks." Having watched it since on DVD, while I still have warm, nostalic vibes for the programme, parts of it IS pretentious - but I also feel one should stay with this cautionary tale of the misuse of virtual reality technology (pity though - who would have believed back in 1993, that by 2007 the populace would be in thrall to the seductive instant-celeb overtures of REALITY TV instead)... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Everything Must Go!!! A must see for any sci-fi mystery fan. This trippy over the top mini series keeps us entertained and is better than most of the sci-fi channels horrible current titles. Great cast and great concept. 4 stars. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A trippy weird sci-fi mystery filmed in 1993 but set in 2007. A strange vision of the future (which is now the past) where men no longer have collars on their shirts. Fun to watch. Completely unrealistic dialog. Starring Jim Belushi and Angie Dickinson. 5 Hour mini series produced by Oliver Stone. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Brian Lowry Variety After the frenetic build-up, Palms can't sustain itself through a violent and crowded final act, when things unravel both literally and figuratively. Mar 2, 2018 Full Review Chase Burns The Stranger (Seattle, WA) It's too shrill, or trippy, or straight, or meandering. I'm not sure. Maybe I need to take myself more seriously or attempt transcontinental meditation or whatever. But this unique brand of dreamlike insanity is a boot for me. Dec 8, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
