Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Tenney’s script and direction are solid enough, so it’s a shame the acting by all concerned is, in a word, atrocious. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 17, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member "I will rise like the Phoenix and kill you. I'll kill all of you." A diverse group of investigators of various sort (ghost hunters, a private eye, mediums, etc) are hired to stay in Gothic mansion for a few nights. The owner has had difficulty selling the property due to an apparent haunting by a poltergeist of a dead warlock (the grandfather of current owner). When the psychic medium makes contact with the spirit, it attacks the members of the investigative crew. Often funny dialogue, though dull acting at times. Fun "Evil Dead"-type scary daemon-view with good sound effects and decent soundtrack. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Cheesy, campy, mostly amateurish, if you're a fan of Linnea Quigley (The Queen of Sex and Scares), well, she's in it for the first half and she might have been her most dishy in 1989. Otherwise, it's so bad it's good. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a lesser effort from Tenney, sure, but I chalk that up to the restrictions he had making this. I still had loads of fun with this goofy, terribly acted flick. That main guy was awesome. I wish he appeared in more stuff... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/20 Full Review Audience Member So let me get this straight.. The same man who directed both Witchboard and Night of the Demons directed this mess? After, no less? Something is fishy. The only redeemable quality of this brainrot is scream queen Linnea Quigley's out-of-nowhere and hilarious death scene near the beginning of the film. Oh, yeah. Spoiler alert. Oh well. Believe me, it doesn't matter. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member In the world of low-budget, B-horror movies, writer/director Kevin S. Tenney is considered to be something of a God. Usually, his name attached to a project means that it's going to be a little bit better than the norm. He's a talented guy. Unfortunately, he couldn't work that magic with "Witchtrap", a dreary and dull film that has nothing new to offer. The makers are quick to tell us at the beginning that this isn't a sequel to "Witchboard", one of Tenney's better efforts. The only thing the films have in common and similar titles and the same director. The cast is full of deadbeats, with the only exception being the film's star, newcomer James W. Quinn. Tenney seems to realize his potential, because he gives Quinn the only good lines in the film. Sure, some are as lame as the rest of the dialogue, but most of his one-liners and quips are the highlight of an otherwise forgettable and boring flick. The rest of the cast delivers their lines so solemnly that it's almost unintentionally funny. Almost. Even perennial B-movie fave Linnea Quigley doesn't have much to do here. She's best being the center of attention, so it's kind of surprising that the director would underuse her so much. There are some decent effects here for such a low budget, but most of the murders are disappointingly bloodless. There's some promise here, but for the most part, "Witchtrap" is a let down. Some of the better aspects can't make up for the poor writing and pacing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A good b-movie with terrible acting.
