      Audience Member Like a poor mans Wizard of Oz meets Star Trek and classic Doctor Who "let's run down the same corridor for five minutes from slightly different camera angles ahhhhh!!" and other same corridor drama's. It actually comes close to being hard science fiction at times, attempting a realistic take on what surviving a crash on Mars might be like (attempting, if not succeeding). Sure there are rubbery martian creatures and recycled stock footage but it breaks a lot of the grenre cliches of character and plot, before resolving in distortions of time and reality unlike much else you come across in this sort of film. As a kid I didn't catch any of the "Oz" parallels which are so blatant in retrospect. Maybe it's better not to consider them while watching and take it more as a Phillip K Dick style mind-trip.
