Audience Member Jessica Bohl was captivating and the film kept you in its grip with a very surprising ending... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A deceptively good film that explores loneliness, depression, and sexuality in a tense encounter in a seedy hotel room between a high school girl who fulfills men's fantasies for money and her next-door neighbor who discovered her secret. A thoughtful, talkative script drove the film, while the images and attitudes expressed kept the viewer just slightly off-balance. The ending was particularly gut-wrenching and engendered a great deal of sympathy for both of these damaged souls. The hand-held camera work was at times a bit disconcerting but otherwise kept the viewer focused on that hotel room and the two people who bare their souls to one another. The film mainly consists of the dialog between the two principles with flashbacks showing how they ended up here. Miss Bohl has not gotten much work since filming this, and this viewer finds that disappointing, as she was very good in this, and real easy on the eyes. This one was a very pleasant surprise. The film is nowhere near as lurid as the description makes it sound. There is nudity, but it was handled tastefully and never felt gratuitous or out of place. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member So much about this was interesting to watch. Not particularly well made, yet still captivating. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Opening scene hinting at giving a priest a golden shower: How could this film possibly go wrong? This is a film, by the way. It's a short one, under 90 minutes, and probably thankfully so. Had it been much longer, I might have been bored enough to shut it off. The acting, especially from Bohl, is superb. Very subtle and very real. Brundage is not as realistic, but his character does have the task of portraying what the writer wants. Grisham once went to Italy. To write about it, he came up with Playing for Pizza. This writer had a few things to say, and Brundage is how he said it. It makes for some stilted dialogue and actually frustrated me quite a bit for a while. Bohl truly is magnificent. I believe her character is a damaged girl that sells herself. She completely sells it. On top of that, she is quite attractive if not a little thin, so that's definitely a plus. Finally, the ending. Holy shit. Can't risk a spoiler here, but I thought some predictables did come true, then they sprang that ending. I am usually against the twist ending, but you don't even have to watch this twice to sit back and say, you know, that's definitely what they were setting me up for. If there is a strike against the movie, it's a little dry. It takes a little extra time for the story and characters to develop. Still, without that extra touch, the ending isn't nearly as powerful. As I was watching, I kept thinking that Leaving Las Vegas could not be beat for prostitution movies. And En La Cama is another good movie of just a couple in a bedroom the entire time. I still think LLV is head and shoulders above everything else, but this little movie did turn out to be a nice piece of art. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member A mess with no soul or purpose. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Unbearable. The script, the pacing, the camerawork, the acting, all terrible. It was a really good premise (for the most part, the ending was beyond stupid) but it was completely wasted. Thank God the girl was easy on the eyes. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
