Critics Consensus

Well-cast but lacking much of a spark, Your Place or Mine hits the standard genre beats just competently enough to remind the viewer of countless superior alternatives.

With a predictable story and a lack of chemistry between its stars, Your Place or Mine will disappoint most viewers looking for a good old-fashioned romantic comedy.

Manuel Betancourt AV Club A mixed bag is maybe the best you can accomplish when you set out to structurally thread two storylines into one film, or rather when your film has to sustain two mirrored arcs whose intersection is the endpoint. Feb 24, 2023 Full Review Leah Greenblatt Entertainment Weekly Everyone here — the actors, the audience, the genre — deserves better. Rated: C- Feb 15, 2023 Full Review Rex Reed Observer About as romantic and funny as a root canal. Rated: 1/4 Feb 13, 2023 Full Review Tamma Moksha The Hindu The leads of the film — Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher — spend most of their time in two different cities, and the split-screen plays spoilsport with the romantic tension. Jun 11, 2024 Full Review Valentina Morillo El Español (Spain) A rom-com with no chemistry, in which Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher fail to ignite any passion. Dec 29, 2023 Full Review Matt Pais MattPais.com For a story that half-heartedly attempts to advocate for the courage to take risks, “Your Place or Mine” is so incredibly safe and underwhelming by design. Michelle G Disappointed. I usually love a good Ashton Kutcher Rom com and we haven't had one in a while. And who better for the female lead than Reese! However, we never get the two of them together through a majority of the movie. We see an opening scene where they romp and then a ton of split screen phone calls where there is no building of this supposed romance hiding within them. We get a little chemistry from Jesse and Reese and I was hoping this was going to be a scenario where Ashton and Reese discover they don't have feelings after all and she reconnects with Jesse but...no. There is this reunion at the end where we are supposed to feel something but feel nothing because we had no build up of this relationship. Great cast, horrible plot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Bobby K I don’t think I can recommend this movie just because it was so cheezie. Personally not my fav. It had some funny parts but very badly written Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Meri D I enjoyed this film. I’m really surprised about the bad reviews. It was a pleasure to look at both their apartments which were both beautiful and I liked the story. Was it great, no but it was certainly enjoyable. It was a nice little romcom, perfectly enjoyable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Andrea V So boring, no chemistry at all between the actors. Don't waste your time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Tish S Almost didn’t watch this because of bad reviews. That would have been a mistake. Enjoyed it for what it was - a light warm hearted rom com. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Felicia a Le film est plat, l’intrigue est basique, le jeu des acteurs n’est pas bon. Les dialogues ne sont pas drôle la fin est prévisible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
