Audience Member This was the first of the Zato series to come under the banner of Katsu Productions. Katsu-san sings the Zatoichi-theme for the first time. This is also an unusual film in that it makes a social statement in favour of non-violence and cooperative business being superior than the traditional models. Watch for the hero to be carried triumphantly to the showdown by the villagers. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member In the last film he gets a new cane sword and with this, he finally gets a very engaging story, one of the best so far. Zatoichi helps out a town as always but in this story. there's a twist, he sacrifices his reputation for a belief. Zatoichi becomes an outlaw for a Yakuza boss which he thought was a decent man. But it turns out, he's the real villain. This boss is perhaps one of the most deceitful villains I ever watched. It's fantastic. Plus, Zatoichi has blood special effects now. LOL. The movie cuts down with the action but makes up for it with a quality story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member There's some seriously badass action going on here. The plot meanders a bit, but it brings it all together really quickly... and with some great lines of dialogue. Very enjoyable installment in the series. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member First disappointing film in Zatoichi series--Unevenly paced!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Seizième film de la saga Zatoichi. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Zatoichi (Shintaro Katsu) the blind swordsman steps in to save peasant farmers from the clutches of rival gambling houses who are driving them into debt. 1967 Japanese classic, great fighting sequences.
