Jonathan G Director Keita Amemiya and his team are from a tokusatsu background. Classic Japanese shows with an heavy focus on practical effects and somewhat silly costumed, often produced in a very short amount of time with whatever is available. Hence Zeiram is all about props and practical effect. The monsters, the hero-suit and the weaponry, all have a certain weight to them. While it may not look as slick as the latest over-marketed CGI fest, everything in Zeiram has its own particular look and feel. Each futuristic item and monster is an original creation that keeps the surprises going. While the story is paper-thin, the overall look and feel of alien technology has a certain homogenous look to it that holds the feature together with its word-building. But still, the 2 comic-relief are grating at best. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Stephen P This movie is great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/18/23 Full Review Chris M This is SOOO cool, the creature effects the main her and the action. A near perfect movie. But not quite perfect. The two guys from the power company can get a little annoying at times. But a small complaint to a near perfect movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/14/22 Full Review martin f The movie is mostly an excuse to have a space fighter trading fits with a space monster, or as it was popularly named at the time: bioweapon. The story's multiple twists were just a way to keep the fight going. There is no development, backstory, or side-story here only kick, punch, running and explosion. The movie tries its best to give you an anime feel despite the limitation of the Japanese cinema and 90s production but somewhat these limitation gives a charm. The special effects, even if sometimes feel underwhelmed, can be outstanding. The monsters there are just creative and all the good kinds of disgusting. The actors are not too bad, clearly not great, but they really match their character. Especially the actress for Iria, despite her angelic face, she is still able to give you the presence of a cold warrior. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member (***): Thumbs Up A lot of fun. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I rather enjoyed this and it proved to have a rather gripping plot. I appreciated that some time was taken to build the secondary characters a bit. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
