A recently paroled master thief assumes the identity of Sheriff Lucas Hood in Banshee, Pa., where his former lover and partner in crime relocated years ago and reinvented herself as Carrie Hopewell, the wife of the town's prosecutor. As Lucas attempts to reunite with Carrie and keep his past a secret, he resumes his life of crime, even as he's hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier, including a mob boss who seeks revenge against Lucas and Carrie for the jewel heist that landed Lucas in prison.

Banshee boldly pivots into a darker and more mature mystery for its fourth and final season, finding fresh terrain for the proudly pulpy series while providing satisfying closure.

Alan Sepinwall Uproxx As dark and nasty and psychologically tormented as Banshee has always been, it's also been fun on some level, and it's incredibly hard to have fun playing in this particular sandbox. Mar 27, 2018 Full Review Les Chappell AV Club If there's one thing Banshee has always been, it's a show that does everything on its own terms, and that includes its ending. Rated: A- Apr 5, 2016 Full Review Allison Keene Collider Banshee's story is full of twists and unexpected connections, as well as its telltale brutal violence. In a sick streak of creativity, the show continues to find new, gruesome ways to kill people. Rated: 4/5 Mar 30, 2016 Full Review Randy Dankievitch TV Over Mind With "Requiem", Banshee doesn't go out like the funeral procession its title suggests it would: but it's that final twist of optimism that seals everything neatly into place, a final hour that is more than a fitting farewell to a memorable series. Rated: 5/5 Feb 11, 2020 Full Review Natalia Marcos El Pais (Spain) Banshee isn't fooling anyone. It is what it is. Aaron U This was a great show from the first episode. A couple times the dialogue was a bit cringe, and sometimes the plot was a bit Scooby Doo where they kept on sparing a bad guy on his good word only for him to come back even harder later, but aside from those minor bits, the show was great! Banshee also stuck the landing with an ending that was satisfying, made sense, and left no ambiguity. At the end, you’re sorry to see it go, but happy you got to watch it and meet the characters. It reminded me of The Expanse, the first three seasons of The Boys, or Daredevil. It was just good, and I cared about the characters. Great show!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Chris B One of best seasons of TV ever . I didn't love the ending but the writing and character development is amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Lane M I love this series, great acting, action, drama, a bit of everything Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/25 Full Review Aliens F We need more seasons this show is awesome Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Shaun R One of the most underrated series ever. Not overlong and it doesn't take it self too seriously despite being violent and action packed. The best way to describe it is that Banshee is a load of fun. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review Voice O Though I found the main themes of the final season a bit less compelling, apart from Job's storyline, which was very moving. Nice to add the main from Dollhouse, thoughI felt her love story with our main a bit unnecessary and their chemistry was lacking compared to him with Ana or Shiabohan for that matter. Proctor's arc felt a bit unimaginative to me and the central mystery of this season was rather dull. So why still 5 stars? It is Banshee and will always get my five stars for its balls our unapologetic pulp awesomeness. A show like that would not be possible today.
