Featuring stand-alone dramas -- sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales that explore techno-paranoia -- "Black Mirror" is a contemporary reworking of "The Twilight Zone" with stories that tap into the collective unease about the modern world. Each story features its own cast of unique characters, including stars like Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help"), Alice Eve, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Cullen and Jerome Flynn ("Game of Thrones"). Joe Wright, Dan Trachtenberg, and James Watkins are among the featured directors.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Responding to a world that's become just as technologically anxious as one of its speculative horror stories, Black Mirror refreshingly tacks toward more humanistic and hopeful tales in a superb return to form.

Emma Stefansky The Atlantic In an ever more app-based world, a future in which the decision to subscribe becomes a life-and-death matter is not all that difficult to imagine. Apr 18, 2025 Full Review David Bianculli NPR TV this good is a joy to watch. And TV this thought-provoking that has you remembering and relishing it for days and weeks afterward, that's not just a joy, "Black Mirror" is a treasure. Apr 17, 2025 Full Review Andy Crump Salon.com For a show comprising a scant 27 episodes to salvage itself for spare parts is unbecoming, not to mention dull; a show can only play the same note so many times before the piano string snaps. Apr 17, 2025 Full Review Mini Anthikad-Chhibber The Hindu A sequel to one of the best episodes of the sci-fi anthology, a creepy videogame, a tender romance, a meditation on the death of a relationship and Easter eggs galore… this glittery, gorgeous season of ‘Black Mirror’ has it all and then some May 16, 2025 Full Review Sarah Jessica Rintjema Exclaim! 'Black Mirror' now merely serves as a comfortable return to format, a sedative, some good ol' content slop for the Netflix trough during our spiralling descent into worldwide fascism. Sherie C Wildly creative story lines + great acting and directing. Love love love this series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Jess S Each episode does exactly what it is meant to, most disturb and fill me with anxiety. The first episode is original and they only get more so from there. My favourite episode is play thing, it is a great commentary on the gamification of life and the addictive nature of modern entertainment. There is an episode for everyone this season and is very well shot. Each episode is filmed in slightly different aspect ratios making them feel like mini movies each time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Tyler A Innovative, different and overall shocking! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/17/25 Full Review Lonely S Ok season. Plaything was fantastic, and the only stand out of all the episodes. On the other hand, the last episode which is a continuation of an earlier black mirror episode, is a complete waste of time and way too long. It did not needed a sequel. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/17/25 Full Review Jackson G A comeback that bring old tropes into new light, season 7 is the season that saved black mirror and promises bright futures for the show.
