Alan Sepinwall What's Alan Watching? (Ghost.io) The show is an engaging coming of age story. Oct 24, 2025 Full Review Ben Travers IndieWire “Boots” isn’t a perfect show, but it’s a sweet story with its heart in the right place and plenty to say. Rated: B Oct 21, 2025 Full Review Jackson McHenry New York Magazine/Vulture I’m sure the discipline of training works for some people’s psychology, but Cope is so naïve and the show is so unwilling to build toward a larger critique that Boots comes off as propaganda. Oct 20, 2025 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL Boots inevitably dramatizes one big paradoxical fact about military life: It’s innately a very homoerotic environment, but perforce a homophobic one Nov 11, 2025 Full Review Denise Zubizarreta LatinaMedia.Co Boots doesn’t just entertain – it opens a door. It reminds that sometimes the loudest battles happen in silence. That surviving the system doesn’t mean it didn’t leave marks. Rated: A+ Nov 3, 2025 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Tribune-Review “Boots” proves to be a smart, empathetic, character-driven drama that explores coming of age in a time when Cameron can’t be his true self. (ENGLISH) Boots surprises because, while it could have been just another military training story, it takes a far more human and complex path. You can tell it’s drawn from the real experiences of its protagonist, which gives it an authenticity that’s rare in this kind of series. There’s no false heroism or forced patriotism here — just an honest look at what it means to grow, obey, and survive inside a system that rejects difference. The show captures the clash between discipline and vulnerability, between the need to belong and the fear of showing who you really are. It’s brave enough to explore homosexuality within the military, especially during a time when it was still a serious offense. It does so without sensationalism or pity, simply showing the weight of silence. There’s humor, camaraderie, and tenderness amid all the noise, which makes it stand out. The characters are flawed but real, and the lead actor carries the story with a quiet mix of innocence and strength. Technically, Boots is well-made: it moves with rhythm, great photography, and direction that knows when to push and when to breathe. Some may find it idealistic, but there’s more truth here than in many "serious" war dramas. Boots moves you without manipulating and speaks without preaching. And it’s easy to see why it bothers the reactionaries — it reminds us that real courage isn’t about fighting, but about daring to be yourself. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Lghy P Can't wait to cry again for SEASON 2!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/16/25 Full Review Breanne B. Truly a beautiful story. Thought provoking and hilarious at the same time. Inspiring as well as relatable Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Alejandro P. Boots Season 1 gives us the vibe of a marine who doesn’t define himself but tells us who he really is in reality and pushes them into the limites. Cant wait for Season 2. 🫡 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Ritesh V Boots: Season 1 turned out to be a pleasant surprise, starting with no expectations but quickly becoming an engaging and enjoyable watch. The series feels refreshingly original, with a tone that keeps you hooked throughout. The cast delivers genuinely strong performances, adding depth and charm to the story. Overall, it’s a fun, well-made show that’s easy to recommend. In my opinion, it’s definitely a must-watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
