Depraved underachieving might look easy, but for the egocentric Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Frank and Dee, it's an art form; "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" follows "The Gang," the owners of the unsuccessful Paddy's Pub; a group of degenerates who loves nothing more than to scheme, conspire, and mostly revel in each other's misery; whether gaming the welfare system, exploiting dumpster babies, pretending to be crippled, impersonating officers or faking funerals, The Gang never stoops too low in the name of making a buck.

Unlike Paddy's merry band of morons, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia remains sharp and spry in its advanced age.

J. Kelly Nestruck Globe and Mail A perfect example of the cult series’ surreal, sociopathic anti-charm. Jul 10, 2025 Full Review Liz Shannon Miller Consequence Mac (Rob McElhenney, now credited as Rob Mac), Charlie (Charlie Day), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Sweet Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito) show no signs of getting their shit together anytime soon, and once again it’s to television’s benefit. Rated: B+ Jul 7, 2025 Full Review Rachel Ho Exclaim! For a show that made its success by being decidedly politically incorrect, [they've] found a voice in its 17th season that derides yet engages with the divisive politics of today. Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Hope Sloop Decider Season 17 may not be the best season of the long-running comedy as it will always have its formative years, filled with now potentially cancelable jokes and bits, to look back on, but as far as modern Sunny seasons go, this is one of the funniest. Jul 11, 2025 Full Review Alan French FandomWire It’s Always Sunny takes a step back into the ring, legitimately posing a challenge to Hacks as the funniest show on television today. Rated: 10/10 Jul 8, 2025 Full Review Nicholas Brooks CBR It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 is a near perfect season, and perhaps the best the show has to offer. Felix L The first couple of episodes were a bit dry but the latter half of the season was amazing. The amount of impact delivered in 25 minutes was just perfect. Great writing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Audience Member Where's the funny, it's always sunny? This season was absolutely terrible and borderline ruined the show for me, I don't think I can watch any episodes of the show without being reminded that season 17 exists. Everything feels cheap, plasticky, and gimmicky. The only thing I can think of is that they were competing with Game of Thrones season 8 for the title of "seasons that ruined the legacy of their series" If so, great job IASIP! You did it!! Hooray!!!! :) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/22/25 Full Review Kingsley B How far the mighty have fallen. The past few seasons were at least watchable, but the forced acting, bad writing and desperate need to display they’re still in touch made for an uncomfortable watch this season. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/21/25 Full Review JAMES W I really think if you make it past the very first episode you will uncover one of the best seasons since 1-10. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review Ashley F I don’t know how but they keep topping themselves! They stay true to the characters, tie in past jokes, stay topical, and just stay true to their truly insane dysfunctional dynamic. It’s hard for a show to go on this long and maintain its spark, but they did it. There will always be haters, but if the show wasn’t weird as hell and cringy at times, I wouldn’t love it so truly and deeply. I’d watch the gang scream over each other and pull scams for the rest of my life if I could. 😍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/14/25 Full Review brett s A return to form…. aside from the abbot crossover which I gather is where most of the negative reviews are stemming from. It’s great to actually laugh and enjoy what is the greatest show of all time after Season 15 and 16, being sub par. S15 and S16 I have not been able to revisit and re watch time and time again like all the other seasons prior…. Season 17 on the other hand, stands with the best, The gangs back.
