Melanie McFarland Salon.com It may seem as if the point is to turn the mirror on society’s endless appetite for monstrosity. But, as usual, the makers of “Monster” want to have it all ways. Oct 31, 2025 Full Review Amber Dowling Globe and Mail For all its craft and conviction, this series doesn’t illuminate our fascination with evil so much as indulge it, and that’s the real horror. Oct 22, 2025 Full Review Matthew Creith TheWrap “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” strives to tell this monster’s story, but fails to deliver eight episodes worthy of a binge watch. Fantastic performances are diluted with exaggerated B-stories that go nowhere at a slow pace. Oct 9, 2025 Full Review Denise Zubizarreta LatinaMedia.Co The show is both critique and confession, art and indictment. It’s a true-crime thriller that eats its own genre alive. Rated: A+ Nov 3, 2025 Full Review Austin Burke Austin Burke/Flick Fan Nation Season 3 is visceral, uncomfortable, and tells this true story of Ed Gein in a slightly fictionalized way, not straying away from his atrocities. Hunnam makes some interesting decisions that are memorable, regardless of how divisive they will be. Rated: 7/10 Oct 24, 2025 Full Review Emiliano Basile EscribiendoCine Instead of offering a deep and sober exploration of one of the most disturbing criminals of the 20th century, it opts for a mix of sensationalism and stylized fiction that strays...[Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Oct 21, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Dennis L Way too long and way boring. Terrible acting. A jumble of stories from Ed Gein, Tony Perkins, Alfred Hitchcock and the kitchen sink. Slogged through 4 episodes too many. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Eduardo José T o negocio de ficar mostrando o presente é ridiculo, descredibilizou muito. se fosse a série corrida seria bem melhor. Mas as cenas são bem pesadas e dignas de uma série que retrara oq realmente aconteceu Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/12/25 Full Review Juliana f Literally the part where tha n4zï dies, the most boring and absolute unnecessary part, like what was even about? The last two episodes don’t add any substance at ALL. Please, don’t watch it, 1. Doesn’t give the story the impact, a story like this should have. 2. Really freaking offensive for his victims Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/12/25 Full Review Rich G Too slow and too long. Might have made a better movie than a series. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Nichole D Before watching this, I didn’t know much about Ed Gein’s story. This series completely pulled me in. The directing is sharp and immersive, and every actor gives a layered, gripping performance. The pacing, tone, and emotional depth made it much more than just another true-crime retelling. I’m honestly surprised it only has 22% on Rotten Tomatoes because I thought it was outstanding. It’s unsettling, yes, but also incredibly well-crafted. If you appreciate thoughtful storytelling and strong acting, it’s worth watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Juniper R A criticism of murderer romanticism that is in itself the problem. It's both far too long and full of too much nonsensical filler. It tried, and failed, to be deep and artsy. It's not hard to see what the creators were going for at parts, but that doesn't mean they achieved it at all. The excellent performances can't save it from being a trainwreck. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
