It may seem as if the point is to turn the mirror on society’s endless appetite for monstrosity. But, as usual, the makers of “Monster” want to have it all ways. Go to Full Review

For all its craft and conviction, this series doesn’t illuminate our fascination with evil so much as indulge it, and that’s the real horror. Go to Full Review

“Monster: The Ed Gein Story” strives to tell this monster’s story, but fails to deliver eight episodes worthy of a binge watch. Fantastic performances are diluted with exaggerated B-stories that go nowhere at a slow pace. Go to Full Review

The show is both critique and confession, art and indictment. It’s a true-crime thriller that eats its own genre alive. Go to Full Review

Season 3 is visceral, uncomfortable, and tells this true story of Ed Gein in a slightly fictionalized way, not straying away from his atrocities. Hunnam makes some interesting decisions that are memorable, regardless of how divisive they will be. Go to Full Review

Matt G @Realtalk252 49m 2 episodes too long for starters. The story started off strong and fascinating. Great to see Laurie Metcalf since she is awesome in everything she does. But then, the story insisted upon itself and over pushed the pop culture influences of Gein. Most disappointing was the nonsensical ending/endings of the series which left viewers confused. Oh, and the blonde girlfriend of his throughout the series served zero purpose in the whole story and was ultimately unnecessary. I hope the Lizzie Borden one will be better. See more ILL M 4d Pure garbage. Of all the things to try and glorify, it's ridiculous how Hollywood likes to celebrate serial killers. For the sake of shock value, the entire Gein story seems manufactured, not unlike Manson, Richard Ramirez or even the Menendez Brothers. Look deep into the military industrial complex known as Laurel Canyon. (Hollywood, as a whole, really.) The actors in this should be embarrassed at entertaining such morally bankrupt trash. And sure enough Charlie is doing another "Monster" series. "You will know them by their fruits...." See more Chuck E. @ChuckE2311 4d Odd but good if you enjoy serial killer movies like me! See more Lynn G Nov 27 I have no issue with the acting, everything else is garbage. I’m from WI and we all know the story, the writing took small tidbits of truth and made up a story around those bits. Then you find out you were supposed to assume that everything depicted was in Ed’s head. I recommend reading the book or checking out another documentary on this "monster". See more James R Nov 26 It's a travesty that a great cast and production crew wasted so much time and effort on this incredibly insipid series. 99% of the story was fabricated and so much is just randomly thrown in there it's enough to make your head spin. Seriously if you have not watched this yet don't even watch it out of curiosity. It is a complete waste of time and a huge disappointment to the point I will think twice-- or at least wait for reviews-- before watching the next installment about Lizzie Borden. See more NY O Nov 25 Good acting, but all-in-all it's pure garbage. There's far too much added to the story that has nothing to do with the real Ed Gein story, and goes well beyond any acceptable creative storytelling embellishment. Meh! Ten thumbs down, and zero stars if I could. Waste of time. See more Read all reviews
