What to Know

Critics Consensus

Alexander Skarsgård's superbly dry wit brings a lot of heart to Murderbot, making for a refreshingly jaunty sci-fi saga about finally coming out of one's shell.

An AI like Murderbot may indeed become autonomous one day. We should be so lucky, not just for the comedic possibilities but for the validation. Go to Full Review

The show’s take on the gulf between humans and machines is a delightful departure from expectations often outlined by similar stories about AI. Go to Full Review

See more Dimitri R @DmitryR Mar 24 honestly such a good show, good writing, nice visuals and settings. pretty funny, sometimes feels like it doesn't take itself too seriously. the bot is in kind of absurd situation, so it leaves you with no option but to laugh. See more Shauno C @Shaun-c Feb 22 I did not know what to expect first as i was mostly watching as I like Skaragard's acting(KillGen). Found it very entertaining with huge plot twist on the last ep. See more Eric M @Greenfox Feb 10 This is one of the most enjoyable watches I've had in a long time. I was actively waiting for a new episode to come out. This is a Sci-Fi comedy which focuses on dry humor which is right up my alley, lots of sarcasm type humor. I watched episodes 1-9 and said this was a 10 star series. I then re-watched it and realized they released a 10th episode. Personally I think it's better without the 10th episode which seems to draw everything to a conclusion. It makes me believe there won't be a 2nd season which is truly unfortunate. Overall, an amazing watch. See more Marco L @decatur555 Feb 6 Murderbot stands out by refusing to chase spectacle or heavy-handed themes. Instead, it builds a quiet, character-driven sci-fi world that feels confident in its restraint. The humor comes naturally from the protagonist’s detached perspective, and the short episode format keeps the pacing sharp and efficient. Alexander Skarsgård delivers a surprisingly nuanced performance through minimalism, supported by a cast that never overplays its role. While the universe hints at greater potential still to explore, the first season establishes a clear identity and leaves a strong impression. It’s smart, light, and engaging — and it genuinely makes you want more. See more Ken D @mynameisken Jan 25 who made this trash? boring boring boring + bad acting See more Read all reviews
