What to Know

Critics Consensus

Alexander Skarsgård's superbly dry wit brings a lot of heart to Murderbot, making for a refreshingly jaunty sci-fi saga about finally coming out of one's shell.

Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) If androids can dream of electric sheep then cyborgs can certainly have repressed PTSD. May 27, 2025 Full Review Kevin Slane Boston Globe Ultimately, “Murderbot” is a flawed show with a few laughs and a good heart that will appeal to a very specific subset of viewers. May 22, 2025 Full Review J. Kelly Nestruck Globe and Mail If it weren’t my job to watch television, I would have stopped after a few episodes and missed out on the discovery that the series finds actual laughs and rewards emotional investment in all its characters later on. May 20, 2025 Full Review Tori Preston Pajiba It’s unique in every aspect, from its blend of sci-fi and humor to its iconic, apathetic narrator, and we can add its release structure to the mix, too. “New and Improved Quibi” wasn’t a rollout strategy I expected or wanted, frankly, but it works. Jun 4, 2025 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) I had a lot of fun with this, I think the story, while engaging enough to keep me hooked, could have benefited from longer episodes, allowing even more development and depth on the burgeoning relationships between Murderbot and those he serves. Rated: 4/5 May 30, 2025 Full Review Hernán Ferreirós La Nación (Argentina) The relentlessly sullen and ironic tone of Murderbot's voice is the main feat of a story that functions as a kind of witty monologue but is not particularly inspired in other areas...[Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 May 29, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Jammy M Totally Recommended ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Aaron B If you like sitting around hoping that the weak, incompetent, sniveling, obsequious characters will get killed off... this is the show for you. Murderbot is the only likable / bearable character in the whole show, and it's just not worth enduring the others. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Anton G Great tv show, but episodes is very short Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Diogo S The parallel between the sci-fi soap operas that the robot consumes and the show itself, is ironic. Cool production design. The voice over, after a while, doesn't add much. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Adam L Great show and disturbingly relatable lead character. It drops half a star only because I feel like it can and will get even better once it gets into its stride. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/25 Full Review Tom B Very badly written, performed and the cheapest sets and effects possible. Welcome to space...or a quarry where you would film a 1970s episode of doctor who. Theres one good actor, the bald lady, and some collection of ugly, boring and whining people. Murderbot forgot to murder anyone and just complained bitterly like a teenager with their mum. The sets are so unispired. The robots are a variety of people of different heights in motorcycle leather. The acting is very bad. The writing is worse. The vibe is creepy. If they were not robots id think they were diddling. This was a very bad an unispired show Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/25 Full Review Read all reviews
