Critics Consensus

In its second outing, Nobody Wants This' sharp humor and warmly chaotic ensemble keep it an engaging and emotionally observant rom-com that still charms even as it stumbles.

Carol Midgley The Times (UK) It really is funny, if in a low-key way. Nov 19, 2025 Full Review Linda Holmes Pop Culture Happy Hour (NPR Podcast) [Adam Brody and Kristen Bell have] both done other shows where they've done kind of fun back-and-forth dialogue. And that part of it worked really well here for me. But that's because I am a romcom person, and I am a sucker for a banter scene. Nov 4, 2025 Full Review Heather Schwedel Slate It’s an achievement in nothingness: Essentially zero happens over the course of 10 episodes. Oct 28, 2025 Full Review Claire Di Maio InBetweenDrafts It’s funny, heartfelt, and real, blending rom-com-dreamy romance with palpable stakes. Rated: 9/10 Nov 7, 2025 Full Review Andrew Murray The Upcoming While its bright colour palette and soundtrack, oversaturated with pop tracks, package this show as an easily digestible romcom, the script’s thoughtful exploration of relationships makes for some genuinely affecting moments. Rated: 3/5 Nov 2, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It’s a wonderful mix of sharp dialogue, endearing characters, and thoughtful humor. I just wish the show would let them hang out more. Lillan S Funny, easy-going, cute and fun to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/21/25 Full Review Tina R I was so excited for season 2 and while it started out as expected the ending fell flat! How many times do we need to watch Joanne & Noah break up, have an epiphany that they "belong together" and run in the wrong direction after each other. Leighton Meester’s part, while very small, was the most enjoyable to me. This season is less relatable than the first and I didn’t enjoy watching the sister being manipulated by everyone around her (including Joanne) and Joanne and Noah having different variations of the same conversation across 10 episodes. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/20/25 Full Review Elisha I Really solid season overall. The storytelling felt tighter, the character moments hit harder, and there were a few standout episodes that really pulled everything together. It had a nice balance of drama and humor, even if a couple of episodes dipped a bit in energy. Still, it stayed engaging and delivered a satisfying, emotional season that was easy to binge. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/19/25 Full Review Tim G one of the best shows. so real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/18/25 Full Review Bob C Still largely vapid characters with vapid Californian storylines, Season 2 seems to drag more-so than season 1, but at least the repetitive nature and minutia leaves it more memorable. My biggest gripe with this show is that the primary/lead characters have the least interesting storyline out of 3 total couples. I’d prefer all 3 couples had equal focus, because the lead focus is as entertaining as the story of a rabbi who isn’t sure if he wants to settle down or move on. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/18/25 Full Review Giant L. Terrible - maybe a third season with the exact same storyline again is what is needed.
