Rowan C This season was even better than the last and I loved the last season. Clark and Lana finally went for it this season and actually started dating but things once again went wrong at the end. One of the things that led to them dating was the untimely death of Whitney Fordman in which he gave his life for his country. Chloe and Clark also separated as friends towards the end when Clark didn't tell her the truth so she had to find out by watching Lana making out with Clark. Lionel gave her a job offer to do detailed research on Clark which she rejected at first but ended up doing it once she thought that Clark betrayed her. Clark also learned a new ability this season which is heat vision, and he used the thought of Lana to be able to control it before they started dating. We got way more backstory for Clark Kent than we could have ever hoped for and this started with the Kawatche Caves which told Clark everything he needed to know. He got the key back that he needed which shot a powerful beam through his body which gave him the ability to read the Krypton language. Lex was always prying into every piece of information he could get his hands on and even went as far as hiring the best linguist in the world Dr. Fredrick Walden who is played by Rob LaBelle. Dr. Walden did the exact thing Clark did but it overloaded his brain since he is only human. Later, he did wake up telling people that Clark is the one on the painting but killed himself while trying to kill Clark. Clark found out about everything which included his parents and also the planet that he was from which is Krypton. Clark was able to find this information because of Dr. Virgil Swann who is actually played by Superman himself Christopher Reeves who could also read the Krypton language. His father Jor-El who is voiced by Terence Stamp told Clark that he would someday become ruler of Earth because he was a God among men. Before this, he found out that his real name is Kal-El and that he is from the planet Krypton which doesn't exist anymore. Clark obviously refused ruling Earth in which he was marked with a Krypton symbol on his chest that wouldn't come off. Leading to Lex's wedding with Helen who is played by Emmanuelle Vaugier, Clark knew he had to destroy the ship in which he used Lionel's kryptonite key which was made for the caves to put it into the ship which ended up destroying it. Lionel proved once again this season that he is a mastermind because he faked being blind once he regained his sight. Lex and Helen were on their way to their honeymoon but apparently Lex got knocked out only to wake up to his plane crashing into the ocean. This came with serious consequences because Martha and John were on the way home worried about Clark when their car was hit by the shockwave that the ship caused when it was blown up. Later at the hospital, Martha lost her baby which sent Jonathan overboard which caused Clark to leave everyone behind in Smallville. It was the hardest to leave Lana because she told him that she loved him in which he said it back but the pain was too much for him to bear. He ended up putting back on the red kryptonite which was used to mask his feeling and the final scene of the season was him leaving Smallville behind because he thought that he caused too much pain to stay. Overall, such a great season and this show is on a great track to make a great Superman series. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/25 Full Review Clover G Smallville Season 2 Review: Expanding the Mythology Rating: 88% Season 2 of Smallville takes everything great about the first season and elevates it, diving deeper into Clark’s journey of self-discovery while expanding the show’s mythology. This season strikes a beautiful balance between emotional storytelling and thrilling revelations. The growing complexity of Clark and Lana’s relationship is one of its highlights. Their connection feels more real, with moments of vulnerability and chemistry that make you root for them, even as Clark’s secrets create inevitable barriers. Kristin Kreuk and Tom Welling shine in these moments, and watching Lana grow into a more independent character adds even more depth to their dynamic. What sets Season 2 apart is its focus on Clark’s Kryptonian origins, with the introduction of the caves and symbols hinting at his larger destiny. Episodes like “Rosetta,” featuring Christopher Reeve, are nothing short of iconic, tying the past and present of Superman’s legacy beautifully. The Lex and Lionel dynamic also gets darker and more gripping, showing Lex’s slow descent into the man he’s destined to become. While there are still a few “freak of the week” episodes, they feel less formulaic, and the overarching story threads tie everything together more cohesively. Season 2 captures the excitement of Clark stepping closer to his destiny while keeping its heart firmly grounded in the relationships that make this series so special. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Ed R It just keeps getting better! Great villains. Great story! Not the best show ever but it's decent. Not as good as Buffy or Supernatural but still alright. Enjoyable even if it's not perfect. You can tell the writers were trying to do a good job.
