2015 Kids & Family Adventure Fantasy Animation List
100% 6 Reviews Tomatometer 86% 100+ Ratings Audience Score The Crystal Gems are a team of magical beings who are the self-appointed guardians of the universe. Half-human, half-Gem hero Steven is the "little brother" of the group. The goofball is learning to save the world using the magical powers that come from his bellybutton and he goes on magical adventures with the rest of the Crystal Gems, even though he's not as powerful -- or smart -- as fellow group members Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Despite his shortcomings, Steven usually finds a surprising way to save the day. Read More Read Less

Previous Eric Thurm AV Club By subtly building the Gem mythology and developing the characters over the course of the season, the team has earned a certain level of trust, and they could take the show in essentially any direction. A- Sep 22, 2018 Full Review Heather Hogan Autostraddle Steven Universe is the best written queer show on TV right now, a feminist utopia of fully realized female characters - many of whom are voiced by and coded as women of color. Jun 26, 2018 Full Review Kat Smalley PopMatters Its style risks being read as "childish", but even if the show is, it's not the kind of childishness that patronizes children, and it's certainly not the kind that sands the sharp edges off of the human condition. Sep 21, 2018 Full Review Kate Kulzick Consequence Now that the hero knows the stakes, can he return to his life and friends? Steven answers these questions and more, showing its maturity and creativity and strengthening its commitment to Steven's humanity and that of those around him. Sep 21, 2018 Full Review Vrai Kaiser The Mary Sue Proves the depth and vibrancy of the world. Sep 21, 2018 Full Review James Whitbrook io9.com One of the most joyful and smart sci-fi series I've watched in a long time -- one that just so happens to be wrapped up in the guise of a magical girl-style pastiche and a loveably goofy aesthetic. Previous Reqx F WORST show of all time Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review Cody V Very stupid season, This show sucks Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/23 Full Review Johnathon W Superb sophomore season that expands on the mythology while showing the characters evolve. The standout of the voice cast is Shelby Rabara as Peridot, who evolves from a villain to anti-hero, along with delivering the best use of the word 'clod' ever. Behind the camera, Rebecca Sugar expands on the universe while showing the characters change and evolve, especially Steven, who gets a great grasp on his powers while becoming a larger member of the team. All in all, one of the best cartoons in recent years. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review J B Best show Cartoon Network ever picked up. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/23 Full Review Audience Member This is very magnificent Cartoon Network show I've ever watched! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Vastly overrated with a toxic fandom, some may avoid Steven Universe. I urge against this, as one should not judge a show based on the fans, they should judge the show based on the characters and the story. The main focus of this season is the cluster, an entity made up of millions of dead gems, while good, the payoff is rather boring come next season.
