What to Know

Critics Consensus

The short-but-sweetly-lived Ben Stiller Show makes an uproarious impression as a ruthless and genuinely funny satire of Hollywood pretensions.

Rolling Stone Staff Rolling Stone More than its right-place-right-time situation at the center of the early-Nineties comedy universe, what makes Stiller's show stand out in retrospect is the depth of its aesthetics. Sep 13, 2018 Full Review David Bianculli New York Daily News The Ben Stiller Show was about as good as sketch comedy got. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Tim Grierson Deadspin While it can be pretty funny, The Ben Stiller Show is a mess, Stiller and his cohorts trying a little bit of everything to see if it'll work. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Michael Roffman Consequence The Ben Stiller Show wasn't just ahead of its time, it was a total anomaly. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Joanne Weintraub Milwaukee Journal Sentinel The star and co-creator of The Ben Stiller Show is a card, a caution and a hoot. When he's at the top of his form, he's brilliant. When he's not, he's still funnier than those people on that Saturday Night Comedy Show You're Sick of Reading About. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review David Zurawik Baltimore Sun Stiller's got the look -- the Fox TV, youth look. Besides having the look, he also has some talent as a filmmaker, comedian and actor. He especially has a nice feel for video and youth culture. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 13 episodes for a single season series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Joan Rivers once insulted Ben Stiller's talent as lucky-to-have-his-parents, which is unfair. Joan wanted to be an actress, and could never parlay her comedy into acting except in Lifetime movies, so she was a bit jealous. Ben Stiller is a good actor. Have you seen his skills in "The Meyerowitz Stories"? Even though there's a star-studded cast of non-nepotism players, the nepotism boy steals the show. I'm all for railing on nepotism...of the untalented. While I've heard Stiller is sometimes difficult to work with because he knows exactly what close-ups he wants, he's a gifted actor in both comedy and drama. Leave Anne and Jerry out of this. They can't help if they reproduced well into their chosen field. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
