Amanda Payton

Most fans first became familiar with Amanda Payton when she joined the cast of the courtroom comedy series "Trial & Error" (NBC, 2017- ) in 2018. A native of Santa Monica, California, Payton was just 8 years old when she first took a strong interest in performing for audiences. She cut her teeth on school plays as a youngster, eventually attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, before going on to enroll at Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. Payton would appear in several theatrical productions at the college, including the musical "Guys and Dolls" and August Wilson's "The Piano Lesson," before graduating with her BFA in 2008. Upon returning to California to pursue her career on screen, Payton soon landed a small appearance on the series "Numb3rs" (CBS, 2005). She was next cast in a minor role in the Mike Mills film "Beginners" (2010), quickly followed by a small part in an episode of "Southland" (NBC, 2009-2013). A 2017 appearance on the mega-hit series "The Big Bang Theory" (CBS, 2007-) raised Payton's visibility by quite a large margin, leading to her joining the cast of "Trial & Error," which soon saw her acting alongside the likes of Kristin Chenoweth and John Lithgow.
