Carlos Estrada

Argentinian actor Carlos Estrada was a major star of Spanish cinema, with over 70 films to his credit in a career that spanned more than 50 years. In 1954, he made his film debut with a role in the Argentinian comedy "Su Seguro servidor." Yet he didn't garner major praise until 1961, when the National Film Journalists Circle of Argentina heralded his lead turn in the gritty drama "El rufián." Over the next decade, he appeared in a wide array of films, from an Italian adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" called "Giulietta e Romeo" to the Spanish crime thriller "Crimen de doble filo." Estrada made his television debut in 1964 on the Spanish dramedy series "Primera fila," but his first noteworthy TV role didn't come until 1986, when he was cast in a series regular role on the short-lived, Barcelona-set series "Recordar, peligro de muerte." Once the show ended, Estrada performed a supporting role in the English-language action movie "Rage of Honor" before landing the lead on another short-lived series, the Spanish drama "El mar y el tiempo." Following a string of one-offs on TV, Estrada returned to film in 1996 with a supporting role in the Argentinian adventure "El cóndor de oro" with American star Mario López. Three years later, he made his final film appearance in the Argentinian action-thriller "Comisario Ferro." He died two years later, leaving behind a legacy of vibrant performances.
