Catherine Ferran
A respected thespian in her native France, Catherine Ferran has had an extensive career dating back to the early 1970s. Her first acting role was in a stage version of the Italian dramatist Luigi Pirandello's "Chacun sa vérité." However, Ferran's career truly began when she joined the Comédie-Français, the prestigious French state theater with its own troupe of actors, where she honed her acting skills and developed a life-long relationship with the theater. During her extensive study at the Comédie-Français, she performed in some highly renowned theater pieces such as Bertolt Brecht's "Antigone" and "Mr. Puntila and his Man Mantti," Edmond Rostand's "Cyrano de Bergerac," Anton Chekov's "Three Sisters," and Shakespeare's "Macbeth." After 10 years with the Comédie-Français, she formally became a member of the troupe. Although Ferran's body of work is mostly comprised of theater pieces, she has delved into television and film several times. Her most notable works include the TV miniseries "Rastignac ou les ambitieux" and a film version of "Cyrano de Bergerac," where she worked alongside international film star Gérard Depardieu. However, Ferran has always treated the Comédie-Français like her second home, and the theater graciously granted her the status of a "Sociétaire honoraire" for her body of work and dedication to the theater.
