Daughter of award-winning theater and film actress Jude Narita, and grandaughter of noted jazz producer Cobi Narita, Darling Narita has been active in the theater as well as American independent cinema. Her arrival in the latter was marked by a striking lead performance in 1995's "Bang," in which she played a down-and-out Los Angeles actress who steals a policeman's bike and uniform, subsequently spending the day maintaining her ruse while interacting with various strangers in the city, often to surprising effect. She reunited with "Bang" director Ash (also known as Ashley Baron Cohen), for 1999's "Pups," about a pair of misfit teens who manage to hold a bank hostage. Her lead performance in the 2002 drug abuse drama "Tweeked," directed by indie director and producer Beth Dewey, earned her a Best Actress award at the 2002 Brussels International Independent Film Festival. Narita also wrote, directed, and acted in the 2008 short film, "Slam Bam," about some fringe-dwellers on California's Hermosa beach; her mother, Jude, was also a featured actor in that film. Narita is also very active in the theater, directing, developing, writing, and/or acting in such pieces as "With Darkness Behind Us Daylight Has Come, Lift Up Thyself / Inheritance, Celebrate Me Home," and "Walk The Mountain." She frequently collaborates with her mother, who writes and performs many of the pieces.
