Edie Martin
Edie Martin was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Martin began her acting career with roles in such films as the drama "The Demi-Paradise" (1943) with Laurence Olivier, "It Always Rains on Sunday" (1949) and the drama "The History of Mr. Polly" (1949) with John Mills. She also appeared in "The Lavender Hill Mob" (1952). She continued to work steadily in film throughout the fifties, appearing in the comedy "Genevieve" (1954) with John Gregson, the Robert Donat drama "Lease of Life" (1954) and the Alec Guinness comedy "The Ladykillers" (1956). She also appeared in "As Long As They're Happy" (1957) with Jack Buchanan. In the latter part of her career, she continued to act in "Too Many Crooks" (1959), "I'm All Right Jack" (1960) with Peter Sellers and the adaptation "Kidnapped" (1960) with Peter Finch. Martin was most recently credited in the Abbie Cornish dramatic adaptation "Bright Star" (2009). Martin passed away in February 1964 at the age of 84.
