Birthplace: Los Angeles, California, USA

Writer Elroy Schwartz comes from a family of television producers, writers, and composers--most notably, he is one of "Brady Bunch" producer Sherwood Schwartz's four children. Elroy Schwartz worked on "The Brady Bunch," as well as on "Gilligan's Island" and "Dusty's Trail," all three created and executive produced by Sherwood Schwartz. Both of the latter shows featured Bob Denver's slapstick-heavy comedy; the first cast Denver as an inept crewman marooned on an island, and the second was very similar in plot, except that Denver was the hapless assistant to the leader of a lost wagon train in 19th-century California. One of Elroy Schwartz's brothers, Ross Schwartz, composed the theme song for "Dusty's Trail," while the rest of the Schwartz siblings, including Elroy and their uncle Al, collaborated in producing, writing, and, in the case of their sister Hope, even acting. Together they worked on many different episodes, movies, and other pieces of the " Brady Bunch" and "Gilligan's Island" franchises. Before "The Brady Bunch," Elroy Schwartz wrote for the television sitcom "My Three Sons," which was somewhat similar in plot to "The Brady Bunch," a show featuring two widowers with children, in that it focused on the life of a single widower with three sons. Another notable sitcom Elroy Schwartz wrote for was "Family Affair," again about a single man raising children--though these were three children inherited after his brother's death.
