François Péloquin
French-Canadian writer-director François Péloquin began his career in documentary and reality television in his native country before making his debut as feature film writer and co-director on the intimate drama "The Sound of Trees" (2015). The Montreal native studied political science at the University of Quebec in Montreal before embarking on a career behind the camera as a writer, director and cameraman for Radio-Canada's "La Course autour du monde 97-98" ("The Race Around the World 97-98," 1998) that cemented his fascination with personal stories. Péloquin directed documentaries and special projects for the MusiquePlus channel, ARTV and TV 5 while also honing his storytelling through several short films, including "An Island in the Heart" (2008). In 2011, he moved into reality programming, directing episodes of "New Market" (CASA, 2011), "My Plan Rona" (VAT, 2011) while also helming advertising campaigns for major companies like Burger King, Air Transat and FIDO. Péloquin made his feature film debut with "The Sound of Trees" (2015), an intimate drama about the turbulent relationship between a young man (Antoine L'Ecuyer) and his father (Roy Dupuis) over the course of a single summer in a small town.
