What to Know

Critics Consensus

Foundation's narratively knotty third season doesn't quite measure up to its superb predecessor, but this sci-fi epic endures as a faithful and well-acted adaptation of Isaac Asimov's masterpiece.

[Pilou Asbaek's] demonstrations add an element of horror to Foundation, which also has a sly sense of humour sneaking through. Of the many fantastical elements manifesting here, influencer satire was the least expected. Go to Full Review

Ludicrous, lavish and larkingly largely than life, it is one of the most bonkers TV shows ever made and all the richer for that lack of inhibition. Foundation is science fiction with rocket jets cranked to the max... Go to Full Review

Continues to put the rest of its small-screen genre brethren to shame with its momentous, magnificent third season. Go to Full Review

The changes from the novels, which are noticeable from the outset,...have become more pronounced with the same pace as the series' virtues. Go to Full Review

The juxtaposition of the mighty and the micro, supported by stunning production values, makes the war between Jared Harris’ psycho-historian, Lee Pace’s clone Empire, and Pilou Asbæk’s unpredictably charming Mule irresistible Go to Full Review

This season swings for the fences hard, which is excellent. I wish the flight there hadn’t been quite so bumpy. Go to Full Review

Mark W 5d A great series to watch in fast forward occasionally stopping briefly once or twice each episode for a couple of minutes, so you don't miss anything important. The closest this series comes to Isaac Asimov's amazing, ahead of its time, space opera... is the title. The rest of the story presented has very little to do with the original story. Nice spaceships and other CGI though. See more Fred N Nov 27 Reasonably well plotted, but so many tropes and cliches. Way too much gore and pointless violence. I'm glad they are moving the story forward, but extending battle and torture scenes does not make them have more impact. See more The I Nov 25 Haven't read the books and didn't know that the source material received the 'modern Hollywood treatment' as Star Wars and LOTR. It finally became obvious in ep 9 - 10 where the creators destroyed the series at least for me with an unbelievably stupid and annoying plot and ending. A real shame. Won't continue watching. See more The Maelstrom S Nov 19 The 3rd season definitely have more space scenes/ships then the previous two seasons and the politics/drama was also intense. The characters hit their peak saturation, honestly a true upgrade over the previous seasons. Oh My! eagerly waiting for next season. See more LordJuar A Nov 7 This season was amazing. The new elements that they added were great and it still had everything that I loved about the previous seasons. The visuals and music in this season were fantastic. I was constantlty at the edge of my seat and at the end of each episode trying to figure out what is coming next and what each thing that happened would mean in the future. This season also had one of the greatest finales I have ever seen. It constantly blew my mind and I cannot wait for the next season. See more Quest H Nov 5 Season 3: Amazing build up to be destroyed by Deus ex machina. Almost the best season so far. I couldn't stop watching it. Until the last episode. About half way through episode 10, After I realized that all of the interesting build up was just going to be thrown away and no climax or closure. I had to watch it in 2x speed to get it over with. What a disappointment. I'm not sure I'll continue season 4 if it ever comes, episode 10 eroded my trust. Both because the twist was unbelievable (completely ad-hoc), the action sequences were impossible (person flies from space to planet surface while surfing a metal door without being burnt by the atmosphere), and the sequence of final events was just disappointing and rendered the last few episodes pointless.
