What to Know

Critics Consensus

Foundation's narratively knotty third season doesn't quite measure up to its superb predecessor, but this sci-fi epic endures as a faithful and well-acted adaptation of Isaac Asimov's masterpiece.

Craig Mathieson Sydney Morning Herald [Pilou Asbaek's] demonstrations add an element of horror to Foundation, which also has a sly sense of humour sneaking through. Of the many fantastical elements manifesting here, influencer satire was the least expected. Rated: 4/5 Aug 18, 2025 Full Review Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) Ludicrous, lavish and larkingly largely than life, it is one of the most bonkers TV shows ever made and all the richer for that lack of inhibition. Foundation is science fiction with rocket jets cranked to the max... Jul 10, 2025 Full Review Denise Zubizarreta LatinaMedia.Co We’re watching multiple storylines unfold – from splintering the Cleonic dynasty to desperate maneuvering of the Foundation’s new leaders – and it’s all good, but also glacial. Rated: C+ Aug 25, 2025 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network Foundation has sold me on garnering more seasons if they can keep the quality as good as this one. Rated: 7/10 Aug 1, 2025 Full Review Brian Farvour The Playlist A review of what’s been seen thus far can’t begin to describe the brilliance that is “Foundation.” It needs to be experienced. It truly is that good. Rated: A Jul 25, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Craig B Foundation is a very impressive SciFi series. Well-written with plenty of intrigue and action sequences, and great character development and casting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/31/25 Full Review Mattheus C Foundation Season 3 has completely blown me away. Up to episode 8, it’s shockingly incredible — everything is finally clicking into place. The story is deep and layered, with every nucleus of the plot weaving together seamlessly. The visuals are stunning, some of the best I’ve seen on television, and every character feels meaningful, adding real weight to the narrative. What I love most is the sense that the entire galaxy is on the brink of a turning point — you can feel the tension building with every scene. It’s ambitious, epic, and beautifully executed. This is sci-fi at its finest. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/25 Full Review David S As a huge Asimov fan, first season and a half had me raging. The show basically borrowed some character names and the term “psychohistory.” Otherwise, it was unrecognizable to book fans. I decided to let that go and judge the effort on its own merits. And it stinks. The writing is awful. Storylines end up in a dead end, saved at the last moment by utterly absurd improbabilities. Which makes perfect sense for a series of books predicated on the mathematical prediction of the future. Our heroes in this space soap lurch from one lottery-ticket level salvation to the next. And even that would be ok if the characters were well drawn and sympathetic. They’re not. Really disappointed. I kept wanting to like it, but 3rd season’s been the charm, so to speak. Done Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Thomas L This season is little bit more less interesting than others, not sure why, maybe the evil guy is too powerful, or the timeline is hard to manage. Not the same feeling as the others. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Matthew S One of the greatest Sci-Fi shows of all time. Truly a masterpiece Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Meg h Have watched up to Episode 7 Season 3 and just need to say that I’m tired of the Mule being portrayed as totally demented and cruel. I don’t need to see him kill somebody or make them kill themselves horribly every single episode! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/27/25 Full Review Read all reviews
