Jason Sands
Television producer, director, and editor Jason Sands is best known for his work on the scripted reality show "The Hills." Sands began his career as an editor for "The NBC Nightly News" in 1990. He also worked as an editor for the "Today" show, but he soon found his true calling with a two-year stint as an editor for the groundbreaking MTV reality show "The Real World." In the years after "The Real World," Sands has stayed close to the reality television show genre, doing some editing work for "The Osbournes" and then moving into both directing and producing for "The Hills," a popular drama starring several young people, such as Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, as themselves. The show blurs the lines between reality and fiction; though it labels itself as a reality show, it is actually scripted. Sands directed 41 episodes of "The Hills" from 2006 to 2008, and he also directed some of Paula Abdul's "Hey Paula" series, which followed the spacey ex-dance star on her travels. Sands has also done directing work on the reality show "The Phone" and the romantic reality drama "What Chilli Wants."
