Kiri Te Kanawa
Kiri Te Kanawa was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. She appeared in a number of television specials, including "The Marriage of Figaro" (1977-78), "Der Rosenkavalier" (PBS, 1982-83) and "Met Centennial Gala Telecast" (PBS, 1983-84). A few of her roles at the time were also in movies like the adaptation "Don Giovanni" (1979) with Ruggero Raimondi. Te Kanawa also contributed music to the historical love story "The Year of Living Dangerously" (1982) with Mel Gibson and the dramatic adaptation "A Room With A View" (1986) with Maggie Smith. She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "The Prince's Trust Gala" (1988-89), "Great Moments From the Met" (PBS, 1989-1990) and "The Mormon Tabernacle Choir: An Easter Gift of Music" (PBS, 1989-1990). Te Kanawa also created music for "Meeting Venus" (1991). Additionally, she could be seen on a variety of television specials like "Opera Favorites With Domingo and Te Kanawa" (1994-95), "Placido Domingo: A Musical Life" (PBS, 1994-95) and "Simon Boccanegra" (PBS, 1994-95). She also appeared in "Arabella" (PBS, 1995-96) and "Kiri's Coventry Carols" (1995-96). Most recently, Te Kanawa appeared in "New York Philharmonic Opening Night 2000" (PBS, 2000-01).
