Matt Briggs was an actor who graced the silver screen many times throughout his Hollywood career. In his early acting career, Briggs appeared in such films as "Born to Be Bad" (1934), the musical comedy "Hips, Hips, Hooray!" (1934) with Bert Wheeler and the musical "Coney Island" (1943) with Betty Grable. He also appeared in the Stan Laurel comedy "The Dancing Masters" (1943) and the Jack Benny comedic adaptation "The Meanest Man in the World" (1943). His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the Henry Fonda drama "The Ox-Bow Incident" (1943), the musical "Wintertime" (1943) with Sonja Henie and "Buffalo Bill" (1944). He also appeared in "Roger Touhy, Gangster" (1944). Briggs was most recently credited in "The Night Bus" (Channel 4, 2014-15). In the forties through the early 2000s, Briggs lent his talents to projects like "The Babe Ruth Story" (1948) starring William Bendix, "Cadfael 2" (PBS, 1996-97) and "Ian Wright's Amazing Adventures" (Travel Channel, 2000-01). His credits also expanded to "Into the Flames: Poisoned Fire" (TLC, 2000-01). Briggs passed away in June 1962 at the age of 79.
