Roger Pierre
French comedian Roger Pierre is best known for his collaboration with fellow comedian Jean-Marc Thibault. The two entertainers met in 1947 when Pierre was working for Radio Luxembourg. For nearly three decades, the two men performed together in various live shows, television programs, and even three feature films--"La Vie Est Belle," "Vive les Vacances," and "Un Cheval Pour Deux"--all of which solidified their place among the most popular comedy acts in France at the time. After the duo parted ways professionally in 1976, Pierre continued to have a steady career in entertainment. He was involved in numerous shows and made-for-television films and was cast in several feature films, perhaps most notably in the 1998 Oscar-nominated "Mon Oncle d'Amerique," in which he played an ambitious politician who becomes romantically involved with a would-be actress. Pierre appeared in numerous theater productions, including "Le Légataire Universel" and "Le Divan." He continued to entertain audiences in his old age, serving as one of the hosts of the French television show "Incroyable Mais Vrai" from 2003 to 2006. He was also a regular guest on the French radio program "Les Grosses T'tes." In 2010, Pierre died at the age of 86 after battling with cancer.
