Umberto Smaila worked on a variety of projects during his entertainment career. Smaila began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like "Sturmtruppen parte 2" (1983) and "Caramelle da un Sconosciuto" (1987) with Barbara DeRossi. In addition to his music, Smaila appeared in "Italian Boys" (1983). In the eighties and the early 2000s, Smaila devoted his time to various credits, such as "I Miei Primi Quarant'Anni" (1987) starring Carol Alt, "I Mitici" (1993) and "I Miei Piu Cari Amici" (1998) starring Alessandro Benvenuti. He also worked on "Ti Voglio Bene, Eugenio" with Giancarlo Giannini (2002). Most recently, Smaila worked on the Jerry Calà foreign sequel "Torno a vivere da solo" (2008).
