My Homo sapiens brain was boggled by the movie's clumsiness, while my heart was chilled by the chance that otherwise mature members of my species might mistake this disjointed botch for summer entertainment. Go to Full Review

Wahlberg can’t obscure his incredulity at the words he’s made to speak or the sheer silliness of the whole thing. Without latex and a full-bodied shag there’s no hiding from this film. Go to Full Review

While it's fun to revisit this nearly forgotten planet in the company of a master of movie magic, one gets the feeling that Burton never found a way to embrace this place and make it his own. Go to Full Review

Despite having Tim Burton on board, he seems to be more of a director-for-hire almost devoid of his distinctive filmmaking style. Go to Full Review

Ian R 4d This might be okay if you have never seen the original. Wahlberg can't compare to Charlton Heston. I didn't know what to think when the humans on planet of the apes can all still talk. For me, this ruined the plot. There is some weird stage play between the protagonist and the female ape Ari. The ending of the film is ambiguous and many might find it disappointing. I did. There are better movies to watch. See more Traci F @Trace922 4d I didn't get the ending. Was there going to be peace? Or was it going to be more war? I just didn't get the ending but I definite good watch if you're in the mood. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 5 Planet of the Apes (2001), starring Mark Wahlberg, delivers a visually ambitious reimagining of the classic story, with strong action sequences and impressive set designs. The film opens energetically, pulling viewers into its post-apocalyptic world and showcasing thrilling spectacle. Wahlberg’s performance is solid, and the supporting cast, especially the actors in ape prosthetics, commit fully to their roles, adding authenticity to the story. However, the screenplay struggles with uneven pacing and underdeveloped plot points, which weaken character motivations and emotional impact. Chemistry between characters sometimes feels flat, reducing the resonance of key scenes. Despite this, the direction elevates the material visually, creating an engaging and immersive environment. While not perfect, the film remains entertaining, combining action, sci-fi, and creative world-building, making it a watchable, if slightly flawed, entry in the Planet of the Apes franchise. When the commander sees a powerful electromagnetic storm, he is ordered to send his chimpanzee Pericles to check. However, the pod disappears from the screen and Davidson takes another pod to rescue Pericles against the order to stay on board. His pod is thrown to a planet ruled by apes, where humans are slaves. Now Captain Leo Davidson will try everything to summon his spacecraft to take him back home. “Planet of the Apes” (1968) is a classic from the cinema industry wit Charlton Heston in the lead role and a surprising end. Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes (2001) is a film with the same storyline “Earthling crashes in a planet ruled by apes, where humans are slaves”. However, the 2001 sci-fi adventure has a totally different story and is also entertaining and gripping. The cast is excellent, and this movie is absolutely underrated by “critics” and many viewers. I have just revisited this film and it continues to be fascinating. My vote is eight.
