C H Jan 8 Honestly not that bad, although it felt like watching a plot happen to characters, rather than watching characters go on an adventure. It felt like there was barely any dialogue in this film, and when there was it wasn’t very descriptive. It feels like I don’t know the any of the personalities of the characters and the visual effects were not well done either. The odd romantic tension between Leo and Ari and Leo and Daena feels either unintentional yet very present (with Ari, a literal ape), or incredibly forced and barely present, as with Daena. However, the film was overall enjoyable, just felt very lackluster and as if it fell short of its potential. Perhaps the twist at the end would have been better if there was a sequel, but we will never know. See more Ian R Dec 15 This might be okay if you have never seen the original. Wahlberg can't compare to Charlton Heston. I didn't know what to think when the humans on planet of the apes can all still talk. For me, this ruined the plot. There is some weird stage play between the protagonist and the female ape Ari. The ending of the film is ambiguous and many might find it disappointing. I did. There are better movies to watch. While not perfect, the film remains entertaining, combining action, sci-fi, and creative world-building, making it a watchable, if slightly flawed, entry in the Planet of the Apes franchise.
