Based on Tony Kushner's lauded play, this sweeping production, which mixes real-life and fictional characters, is set against the backdrop of the 1980s AIDS epidemic. While conservative attorney and closeted homosexual Roy Cohn (Al Pacino) slowly dies of AIDS, he is tormented by the ghost of Ethel Rosenberg (Meryl Streep), whom he helped convict of being a Russian spy. Meanwhile, Cohn's employee Joe Pitt (Patrick Wilson), a closeted, married gay attorney, also struggles with his sexuality.

Wc W I've seen this twice now. The acting, dialogue and settings are so well done. The great work begins. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Susanna G I have watched this many times. It is a complex, multi-themed, shattering and beautiful miniseries, with luminous performances and sublime musical score. A healing journey for anyone dealing with illness a grief .... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Jeff M Not often, but every once in a great while, film and television can transcend their normal limitations and become true works of art. This is one of the very best examples I've ever seen. Originally aired on HBO in 6 parts and currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime, this is a true epic of the highest order. The ensemble cast is absolutely extraordinary, and watching Pacino and Streep onscreen together for the first time is a film buff's dream. Their scenes together in the last episode are beyond legendary. The late director Mike Nichols has done some magnificent work over his esteemed career, but I believe this will be remembered as his greatest achievement. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Conta N Uma das melhores séries de todos os tempos. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/01/23 Full Review Finch F Television or cinema, this shows how majestic American drama can be. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/22/23 Full Review rex w I was disappointed. Played more like a Shakespearian Broadway production rather than a movie. Jeffery Write was outstanding. The other acting performances were overrated. I fast-forwarded through some of the babbling chatter. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
