Audience Member After getting 47 embarrassingly shaky establishing shots within the first five minutes, I was ready to give up. Buffy alum Marc Blucas stars in this horror which ironically seems to take inspiration from Buffy spin-off Angel. Unfortunately, the inspiration it takes is the terrible editing, rather than the story. In fact, Animals is really a race to see how many things it can rip off in one movie, and do them all worse. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review don s A werewolf movie with the lamest CGI wolf effects wherein the wolves are virtually see-through. Aside from that, you get Nicki Aycox, who has a very nice body, in what is essentially a soft-core porn performance with Blucas throughout much of the movie. The underwhelming story, sporting one of the hugest coincidences in movie history, takes a backseat to the sexual encounters. Laughably bad, but not in a good way. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Poor execution and confused storytelling kept this from being as good as it could have been. The four main leads are good actors, but they are given nothing to work with here and so end up as flat, dimensionless characters. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Naveen Andrews is awesome. Other than some eye candy, this movie is really bad. The CGI is epically bad, and the story is not much better. Blucas does ok, and Nicky Aycox is easy on the eyes, as Eva Amurri but the acting...oh dear. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a werewolf movie. Not a horrible idea. A guy slowly starts turning and goes towards his animalistic ways (lots of crazy sex). The movie could have been much better, though. Not a horrible movie, but the execution wasn't that strong.. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Are they vampires? Are they werewolves? You don't know in this mess of a low-budget horror thriller with bad special effects and an even worse script. Riley from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Marc Blucas) is a good ol' boy who gets seduced by a mysterious slattern (Nikki Aycox) in a bar, and he lets her move in with him even though he doesn't know her. Crazy ensues. There was a point during which I thought his movie was going for a heavy-handed allegory about the plight of the oppressed sex worker at the hands of her evil pimp (Naveen Andrews, better known as Sayid from LOST, who is laughably awful here). But when that was dropped from the plot well before the climax, and I realised this movie isn't going for social commentary, because it isn't trying at all.
