I can't believe how boring this was! The documentary angle is barely there and doesn't add much except that the supposedly spliced in extras are the only interesting thing in the entire movie. The film within the movie is so boring I started fast forwarding through parts where literally nothing was happening for long periods. It wasn't powerful in any way. Not scary, not moving, not nothing. They didn't even do a particularly good job at capturing the time period. Skip it! I don't get the hype. I understand what they were doing but they failed miserably.

An interesting idea, but frankly the "documentary" aspects of it should have been left behind. Explaining the weird little images that pop up only diminishes their creep-factor. The actual "movie" is pretty good for a low-budget spooky show. The little boy is great. It veers into weird territory in the third act and some of it works, some of it not so much.
