Audience Member Not the worst shot on video 80's slasher but that isn't saying much. The worst I'd have to say would be the 1988 shitfest "The Last Slumber Party. I gave "Blood Cult" one star because they somewhat attempted to make this look like a professional looking no budget movie. All they needed was money for decent film and they would have been set. It's still pretty shitty and bad but entertaining in a dirt cheap kinda way. The movie itself looks like one of those crappy old training videos you had to watch from the 80s when you started your mcjob. The acting certainly screams instructional video everytime someone speaks a line of dialog. Very muggy acting to say the least. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A series of murders occur at a college. Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts suspected but its really a witch cult. The first direct to video film and it shows - no one would pay admission to this but you can always record over a tape. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Blood Cult might have worked better as a short film, maybe packaged in a horror anthology or something. The first direct to video film and it shows - no one would pay admission to this but you can always record over a tape. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the MANY films to declare itself the first direct-to-video home movie, Blood Cult is about a sinister slasher who stalks the college sorority dorms and chops up innocent sorority chicks with their meat clever. It's up to an old as molasses sheriff (who seems way more concerned with his re-election than he should be for a lead protagonist character) to try and figure out the murders before they continue on. With the help of his daughter and her shady boyfriend, he comes to realize that he may be dealing with an evil cult that praises a dog witch of sorts. If you can get past the bad acting and the bad shot on video quality of the film, then you have a decent slasher film that manages to minimally entertain. There's a bit of amateur gore involved, but unfortunately, no titties. I say that specifically to actual fans of horror films; ones who will scour every corner on Earth to find new horror films to watch, not "so called" fans that enjoy crapshit like The Ring and The Grudge. This is very low quality filmmaking, so if you keep your expectations just as low, you may find some joy out of this silly film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
