As lumbering and bereft of conscious thought as its unstoppable star, Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood finds the franchise in desperate need of the title ingredient.

Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune The filmmakers have mastered the blood but not the tedium of all of the predictable killings. Nor have they eliminated the '"hate-women" subtext to the entire series of films. Rated: 1/4 Dec 6, 2018 Full Review Austin Chronicle Rated: 0/5 Sep 3, 2011 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine The anxieties suffered by Tina throughout the film are well thought-out by the franchise's typically one-dimensional standards. Rated: 2/4 Sep 25, 2004 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media Others may be disappointed at another missed opportunity to revive a franchise that really feels like it's drowning at this point. Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) The seventh installment is better than expected, because it reserves the final duel between protagonists...something akin to Carrie vs. Jason. Justin T This has a really cool opening scene but no-one other than Jason had special powers before in this franchise, maybe they took inspiration from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Having thought about it I suppose Jason only got his special powers in the previous film so it's not too far detracted from the lore. Also, is this another 20 years into the future from the last film? She grew up there whilst Jason was in the water so that makes this over thirty years after the original film. Ignoring these conceptual distractions I can happily say that Jason looks so gnarly and that is awesome. Violence levels are back on track but still wish they'd released an uncut version. He certainly managed to find a lot of different household items that can be used as weapons. Pacing is good. There are some funny moments and it is generally entertaining. But why does the camera have to shake so much when they're running, even when they're walking sometimes and the torches they use don't seem to make it much brighter. The final act is very fun but the conclusion is a bit silly. Worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/25 Full Review James B This is the first film to feature Kane Hodder as Jason and his performance is amazing and I find it funny how Jason randomly finds these absurd weapons. The design of Jason is also one of the best in my opinion. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Audience Member half of this movie is just people running in the woods, plus the ending and gore is just ABYSMALLY stupid. but on the plus side it is cool seeing kane hodder play jason for the first time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Audience M Wooden acting and creative death scenes, Friday the 13th VII: The New Blood offers a mixed bag of horror thrills and uneven execution in both Tina’s telekinesis and the fantastic portrayal of Jason. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Jerod S Jason has a foe in this one - a girl that can move things with her mind. How these things connect, we’re not sure Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Yuri M Cast is great love this one Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
