Years after the strange drowning death of her father, Tina Shepard (Lar Park Lincoln) returns to the site of his demise, Crystal Lake. Her developing psychic powers were responsible for ending his life, leaving Tina riddled with guilt as an adult. While deceitful Dr. Crews (Terry Kiser) tries to manipulate her abilities for his own ends, both physician and patient are in for a shock when Tina's powers unwittingly free camper-killer Jason Voorhees from his watery slumber.

i don't understand the protagonist change. Tina is the only memorable character of the entire movie. They mastered de blood and gore effects, but the story is weak, the characters are weak, it's the kind of movie you hope to end. The finale wasn't that bad, we see Jason's face after two movies, but that's pretty much it. It regressed from Friday the 13th part VI - Jason Lives, that is a pretty good film in my opinion. It's not a favorite.

This entry, made in just six months from script to post-production, takes the series fully into supernatural territory by pitting Jason against a telekinetic heroine, echoing the era’s trend seen in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Directed by special effects expert John Carl Buechler, it delivers some of the franchise’s most brutal and memorable kills, including the now-iconic sleeping bag murder. Jason’s rotting design enhances his menace, but the paper-thin story—Tina grieving her father and accidentally unleashing Jason—highlights the saga’s creative decline. While the plot is weak, the fast turnaround and inventive gore keep it an entertaining, if shallow, chapter.
