Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The heroes get involved in the strange rituals of the cult of Stirba. Although the rituals, like the rest of the movie, are impenetrable and amazingly inept, I have to concede that no one presides over a ritual quite as well as Sybil Danning. Rated: 1/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Stefan Birgir Stefans sbs.is Even though it's truly a bad film, its full-on weirdness makes it quite entertaining, at least entertaining enough for it to get a recommendation from me to horror fans. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 7, 2021 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The entire production appears to be nothing more than an excuse for the filmmakers to vacation in Europe. Rated: 1/10 Sep 6, 2020 Full Review Heather Wixson Daily Dead It may not be a flawless effort by any means but I can't help but adore a film that gave us Sybil Danning as Queen of the Werewolves, put Christopher Lee in a New Wave night club and also gave the modern lycan mythology a bit of an unexpected twist. Rated: 3/5 Jan 6, 2016 Full Review Matt Brunson Creative Loafing Second only to 1941's The Wolf Man as the greatest werewolf flick ever made, 1981's The Howling remains a high-water mark in lycanthrope cinema. That's why the very existence of this wretched movie is so depressing. Rated: 1/4 Jul 22, 2015 Full Review J.C. Maçek III PopMatters The now-infamous closing credits scene features Syblil Danning's rapid-fire striptease replayed no less than 17 times. Danning was livid at the exploitation. The director was not. Rated: 5/10 Jul 10, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Byron H 3/4 Howling II is corny done correctly! It's more fun than most comedies made these days. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Jonathan O What am I watching! You got Christopher Lee doing great horror performance but he's trying to save this somewhat unnecessary sequel to the original of The howling and the special make-up effects looks cheesy and the new cast members are not interested including their stories and dialog. And why the director wants to make this unnecessary sequel 😒. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Liam D Christopher Lee (The Crimson Pirate, Quo Vadis) bless his heart for trying but this movie is an incoherent mess with an terrible script and awful acting but it has unintentional hilarious moments to make this a so bad it’s good gem Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review GPhonse257 I thought that the werewolf costumes were cheap and cheesy. It looked like the werewolf hunters were being chased by the planet of the apes. Other than that...this movie was pretty good. I like the music tunes that were played at different times of this movie, that made you feel the suspence. I like the 2nd person camera perspective from behind, when the werewolves were chasing the punks in the abandoned building. That really did the trick, to portray the suspense and horror. Christopher Lee's acting was good in this movie. And i thought that the 2 chicks in the werewolf threesome was hot...don't judge me Lol. Other than the cheap planet of the apes werewolf costumes...this movie was everything that you would expect from a typical 80s werewolf horror movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/17/23 Full Review Adrian M So yeah so The Howling was fun, and the book was apparently better, so, in absence of having access to the book, I watched the second movie. Apparently the 4th one is closer to the book but I want to watch these in order. Anyway, the connection to the first movie was a serious stretch as apparently we're swapping from silver bullets to platinum bullets for some random reason, mainly to introduce this sexy woman as the Werewolf Queen. It sounds pretty much like vampires, doesn't it? They were also very sexy throughout with huge numbers of sex scenes throughout. I mean, if you want a sexy werewolf movie then go ahead but this was not remotely scary, and it was like they missed the point of the first movie. It was nice to see the late Christopher Lee again and boy is Sybil Danning sexy in this, but yeah that's about it. I mean, why set it in Transylvania of all places? Werewolf mythology is based on animalistic religious beliefs not in Christian beliefs. Werewolves and vampires don't belong in the same story! Anyway, I dunno. I felt like it was really stealing from the very good first movie, but I'm committed now so I have to see it through and watch all 8 movies. I might end up with some negative scores by the end of this if this keeps up. This one is good if you feel like looking at werewolf sex though, because there's a lot of that. And lots of sexy naked female bodies too, especially one sexy naked female body. So yeah 3/10 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Steve D A product of the 80s but still fun, although likely not for the intended reasons.
