The Great Depression hits London department-store owner Gabriel Service (Lewis Stone), forcing him to fire several employees, including longtime stalwart Benton (Lionel Barrymore). Gabriel shocks his spoiled wife, Isabel (Benita Hume), and daughter, Caroline (Elizabeth Allan), by admitting they must sell their large home. Meanwhile, Benton pulls together a bakery business.
