Audience Member Great twists. Reminded me of Joan and Bette. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Duelles is a Hitchcock inspired thriller set in Brussels in the 1960ï¿ 1/2(TM)s. What I loved about the film was the breathtaking performances from the cast. Each cast member was unique in their own way and the story eerily played on the worst possible case scenario we had in our heads as audience members. Throughout the whole film I personally thought that I was watching and witnessing a live performance that was acted with such passion and vigor that it moved me as a spectator. I could not believe that throughout the whole film the main character Celine spent the entire film paranoid that her friend Alice was plotting to harm Celineï¿ 1/2(TM)s son Maxime. Although her panic and fear seemed to be a delusion throughout the movie in the end it only appeared to be real as Alice orchestrates an elaborate ruse to kill Celine and her husband and adopt Maxime for herself. Of course this was all motivated by Alice losing her son Theo to a tragic accident at the beginning of the film caused by a peculiar circumstance in which the boy Theo fell from his bedroom window in an attempt to rescue his cat who was stuck in the gutter of the families home. The middle of the film seemed to be bland and slow but it did not take long for the movie to pick up intensely towards the end surprising the audience with a shocking conclusion that seemed to be so obvious throughout the film that there was no way it could be real. Although the film was well done in every aspect I felt that even though it was only just over 90 minutes it felt and played more like it was teetering on 2 hours or more. This drawn out effect of the film left me wishing for a speedier finish and causing me to be a bit restless in my seat. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jessica Kiang Variety These perfect housewives serve each other passive aggression like petits fours and protestations of affection like they're macarons iced with arsenic. Sep 26, 2018 Full Review Jordan Mintzer Hollywood Reporter Half the time, you don't know if you should be rolling or shuddering in your seat, though you mostly do the latter. Sep 18, 2018 Full Review Wendy Ide Screen International Masset-Depasse deftly handles a plot which flirts openly with ripe melodrama, but keeps the audience guessing about which household the madness and paranoia lurks within. Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Jim Ross TAKE ONE Magazine Although perhaps a little too based in homage to be a memorable festival circuit breakout, it can certainly be appreciated for the gripping yarn that it is.
