Fifteen years after the end of World War II, a team of top-secret Israeli agents travels to Argentina to track down Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi officer who masterminded the transportation logistics that brought millions of innocent Jews to their deaths in concentration camps. Hoping to sneak him out of the country to stand trial, agent Peter Malkin soon finds himself playing a deadly game of cat and mouse with the notorious war criminal.

The movie is less thrilling than the previews implied but the acting, writing and direction were all very solid. Operation Valkyrie and Munich were super taut thrillers and easy to recommend for seeing on the big screen. This falls more into the category of a strong streaming or rental option but pass on seeing it in theaters.

Very well acted, convincing treatment of historical data and, at times, tense and gripping. Even though we know the outcome, there are moments when it still feels as though it could all go horribly wrong. Ben Kingsley does a superb job of bringing to life the evil in Eichman's janus-faced personality, and Oscar Isaac does a similarly convincing job as Mossad agent Peter Malkin. In all, Operation Finale is a compelling reminder - if one was ever necessary - of why we need to remember the lessons of history.

The acting in this portrayal of the Eichmann capture by Israeli agents is strong with Ben Kingsley's two-faced performance as Adolf Eichmann standing out in particular. The movie suffers by being a little slow throughout with a few overstretched scenes in my opinion.

Too slow at some points, too fast in others, this is not a gripping watch, although if you're not familiar with the events you should watch this anyway. Kingsley is very good as the vile Eichmann, who pretends to have been a mere pencil pusher but whose arrogance spills over every now and then.
