Novak's gestures, glances, and inflections expand passing moments to symphonic proportions, and MacMurray's studied neutrality exudes existential weariness. Go to Full Review

Viewed strictly on its own, as it should be, this modest Columbia melodrama is a creditable job for about half the time. Go to Full Review

Marked by a visual claustrophobia that nicely matches MacMurray's increasingly hemmed-in situation. Go to Full Review

It's the sort of thing that has often been done before, but usually with less competence than in this hard-boiled little suspense yarn. Go to Full Review

A compelling story of a man whose morals become twisted by a dangerous and somewhat naive femme fatale. Go to Full Review

Martin B Nov 3 10 years after Double Indemnity, Fred MacMurray once again playing a sap for a beautiful woman. Watched it for a second time and it still seems remarkably forgettable. Kim Novak who only seemed to have one character in her, the sultry temptress did her bit but it was too much Fred MacMurray’s character making bonehead mistakes to get the girl and the money. Philip Carey watching and connecting with Dorothy Malone was actually more interesting then the intended plot. See more tucker s Oct 11 Fantastic noir. Really great See more jimmy b Jun 7 Debut of Kim Novak. It's actually her best performance. Soon-to-be Oscar winner Dorothy Malone (1956 "Written on the Wind") has a supporting role.
