I love the Halloween tree so much. I think it is a forgotten classic. I love the concept about telling Children with the origins of their costumes mean and where they originally come from I love how they go on a trip to save their best friend, but they also get a learning of what their costumes mean. I love the colors. It looks like watercolor. I love how Leonard Ray Bradberry The author himself narrates this movie I love where The inspiration from the book came, which was it’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown.

This movie is a true gem 💎 a cult classic of a cartoon that is both informative and dazzling to the eyes. With all its haunting glory it tells a tale in such a macabre whimsical way that breeds nostalgia and captures the true spirit of Halloween 👻🎃.

Best animated, Hannah Barbara movie ever. Fun for all the family. No scary bits at all. Must watch. Best Halloween cartoon ever with children as the main characters

For kids of the right age, I think this movie could be a great watch. It's informative of the origins of Halloween and a lot of the standard Halloween costumes, which gives a historical context to the celebrations and will be helpful to certain kids I've met who think it's all Satan-based. I also like how it's dark, but appropriately dark. It doesn't shy away from the creepier aspects of the holiday, and there is a legitimate threat to the whole thing.
So it's good for kids, as an adult, I found it lacking. I couldn't help but see it as feeling like a much darker episode of Magic School Bus, with a supernatural figure educating kids while going on a journey. I like Magic School Bus well enough in nostalgia, but it is pretty dorky, and from adult eyes so is this movie. It's also a Hanna-Barberra production, and damn does it show. There are sequences that are supposed to be big and epic, and they just can't capture it. For what is supposed to be a big adventure on Halloween night, the whole thing feels rather dull and silly. But again, that's my adult eyes. I give it props because I think for kids it could work, and for a TV movie of the 90s it's much better than it needs to be, but unless you have kids of your own or you're under the age of about 11 or 12, I'd say it's skippable.
