Audience Member In retrospect this is a rather goofy movie which takes itself too seriously. A shame as Karloff really tried to expand his acting chops, but couldn't quite pull it off as well as Lorre - and that's not really a compliment. But a more nuanced remake (with proper casting & script) might be worth doing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member You can't pass up a film where Boris Karloff plays a Chinese detective. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This cheapie fourth entry in Monogram's "Mr. Wong" series hoped to cash in on the Charlie Chan success. Boris Karloff again, laughably, returns as the "Chinese copper." Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Things happen to people who know too much. The Captain of the police force has his best friend murdered. He hires Detective Wong to help him uncover those responsible for the crime. Detective Wong is a very eccentric guy, and the captain doesn't always agree with his methods, but the captain doesn't mind the results. Can Detective Wong solve the case? "Sometimes people get hurt." William Nigh, director of Mr Wong, Detective; Black Dragons; The Ape; Desert Nights; Divorce; Forever Young; The Gay Cavalier; and The Mysterious Mr. Wong, delivers Fatal Hours. The storyline for this picture is just okay and doesn't have as much drama as I would have liked. The cast does deliver awesome performances and includes Boris Karloff, Marjorie Reynolds, Lita Chevret, and Grant Withers. "They say drowning is an easy death." "He had two slugs in his neck before he hit the water. Not such an easy way to die." Fatal Hour is a movie I watched off Netflix because it starred the marvelous Boris Karloff (I love watching his old films). This was a bit disappointed and I was only half interested in the plotline. Karloff was awesome and fairly funny; but as an overall film, this was very average. "My personal affairs are none of your business." Grade: C Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow and dull, Karloff's role is about as good as this film gets. The characters are lacking, as well as the plot. Somewhat decent mystery, not not interesting enough to sit through. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Bien réfléchi, très mal abouti, The Fatal Hour porte bien son nom. Une heure de visionnement qui à l'air de deux. Vraiment lent, il n'y a pas grand chose, même le grand Boris Karloff n'arrive pas à empêcher le film de tomber dans l'ennuie.
