Synopsis
This documentary follows a massive naval expedition to Antarctica. Known as "Operation High Jump," the mission involves a fleet of ships and thousands of soldiers and crew members. Seeking to both map the region and survey the land for strategic military positions, the American excursion finds the men enduring bone-chilling cold and other hardships. Actors Van Heflin, Robert Montgomery and Robert Taylor, all of whom served in the Navy, alternately narrate the film.
