The real crime ... is how utterly boring it all is. Go to Full Review
Noel Murray Los Angeles Times 01/12/2017
"The Snare" is admirably artful and oblique in putting its own twist on the haunted-house story, but it's derivative of much better psychological suspense films and is obnoxiously unpleasant to boot. Go to Full Review

The Snare is so without substance that you might not even remember watching it. Go to Full Review
Andrew Marshall Starburst 12/29/2016

It tries to create and maintain an atmosphere of pervading tension, but through its unrealised premise, uneventful plot and simple lack of any real story, it utterly fails to hold your attention. Go to Full Review

09/19/2018 Let's start with the fact that it's dimensional horror and while found footage gets a lot of flack for having a foregone conclusion of an ending it's nothing compared to dimensional horror's "you never get back out again" trope. Sometimes dimensional horror is quite fun, it allows for greater levels of physical horror as anything goes so long as whatever controlling the dimension wants it to. Corpse Party is excellent example of this, using it's dimensions to torture not just the living but the dead, but this movie mostly only uses the "you only have what you brought with you to eat/drink death is certain it's just a matter of time" ability of the dimension as it's main horror. Watching a bunch of people I don't really like slowly starve to death--not great horror. Starvation as a horror trope, not great especially in film. I've only really loved it once in Clive Barker's Dredd, which was definitely better than the film adaptation. People are starving to death right now, as I type this and also now as you're reading this, scared? Sad? Indifferent because it's not you? Pretty much that last one. It works better in a book because that gnawing hunger becomes a visceral shared feeling but in film it's meh. Then there's the rape and sexual abuse. Really? Yeah really. I'll admit, having someone vomit on my crotch so they can fit their limp dick in there, definitely gross. Horrifying that someone went through the trouble to not only write but act, cut and edit it in there, sure. But mostly gratuitous though it did prompt the next boring assed plot point--cannibalism. Raise your hand if you'd rather use what little energy you have left to kill and eat your companions rather than raping them. So they eat him. Eventually. And the dimension makes his body spoil almost instantly. So now what? Obviously it's come to murder right? So final girl does and she's finally released... to seek revenge? Or not because it's dimensional horror and you never really leave. Don't know don't care. Boring. Boring. Boring. I went into this with pretty low expectations and was quite frankly blown away. It's a slow burn (to an extent), but one that pays off as immensely as the story unravels. The atmosphere is heavy and frightening with a soundtrack that will give you chills. The acting is way better than I was expecting from a low budget horror movie, I was rather blown away. I look forward to this director continuing on with this genre because.....wow! See more 01/26/2017 cuando empiezan mostrando un conejo muerto lleno de gusanos, ya es una pelĂcula basura.
