Shanaine G Not sure why this movie has such low ratings. It had me on the edge of my seat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review kevin c I'm a big fan of heist movies and this has the beginnings of a pretty good heist movie as an eclectic gang of criminals begins a daring bank robbery. Then it kind of switches genres into a bit of a supernatural horror film. While I kind of liked the strangeness of the left turn, it just didn't work that well as a hybrid, and just kind of made the heist part fall flat. James Franco is in this, but seems like more could have been done with him. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The Vault actually was a decent movie. The story had it's downfall with the ending but, I liked what the writers where going with a cursed bank and an employee who really wasn't there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/22/20 Full Review Audience Member The Vault is an absurdly cheap and badly made movie by a no-skill crew that exists in the B-movie netherworld between expensive and well-produced quality with themes and hidden meanings and cheap, simple, fun, entertaining schlock with some clever ideas behind it. The Vault it painfully neither. It is part bad premise for a Saw movie, part good idea for a From Dusk Till Dawn twist but in a bank robbery scenario. At worst; it squanders a great premise, or at least a great set-up, and a great one-location horror movie idea and makes something completely shapeless and unintriguing and unscary with an amateurish almost parody-like, laugh-out-loud third act. However at best; it shows the Eastwood daughter as a pretty decent badass and carries rich spinoff potential for Franco's moustache. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The viewer selects this movie, because it is understood to be a ghost/horror film. However, the film is paced in a kind of "slow burn" way. I was waiting for the supernatural part of the plot to begin. But found the bank robber characters interesting. The acting is good, as is the action. I really enjoyed the movie, and the slightly different horror plot. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Two sisters join their brother to rob a bank in order to pay off his debts to some nasty types. However, they're upset to find significantly less money than they had hoped for in the bank's vault. The bank's manager tells them the real money is kept in an underground vault and helps them to open it, knowing that what awaits them inside will be a whole lot more terrible than any justice they may face from the law outside. This was a pretty interesting premise, a heist movie crossed with horror. The film starts off well with a pretty tense set up of the heist. However, the middle section gets lost a little and seems to drag despite the film's short running time. It does improve as the horror elements click into place as the film draws to a close but there wasn't enough here to rise it above anything other than average. Kim Newman Empire Magazine Though it could do with being weirder and wilder, this high-concept mash-up - what if crooks robbed a haunted bank? - features fine work from a brace of rising stars. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Simran Hans Observer (UK) There's little to like in this undercooked "horror" about three siblings who stage a bank heist and run into trouble when they encounter a haunted vault. Rated: 1/5 Sep 10, 2017 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian There's a reasonable premise to this horror-thriller, but also something straight-to-rental about the look and feel of the whole thing. Rated: 2/5 Sep 8, 2017 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts Extremely predictable... there is something that happens that it just gives it everything away very easily. Rated: 4/10 Apr 16, 2021 Full Review Jordy Sirkin Jordy Reviews It Even when the plot finds itself predictable at times, and not quite jump-out-of-your-seat horrifying, it's still a solid thriller. Rated: 3/5 Jan 2, 2021 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Not much makes sense in this haphazardly plotted dud. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 30, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
