Audience Member Cheap Italian 1960s sword & sandal "epic" about Greek God Jupiter tiring of his daughter Venus' wildchild promiscuous ways and decides it's time to marry her off. This leads to many potential suitors and much infighting among the gods. Badly dubbed, ridiculously cheap special effects, and generally poor production values make this a far cry from "Jason and the Argonauts" or "Clash of the Titans" but there is something endearing about these sorts of awful films and "Vulcan, Son of Giove" is a pretty respectable entry in the disreputable Italian muscle man sub genre (i.e. remember that SNL skit where Bill Murray played Hercules? "That boulder is too large. I could move a smaller one."). Although not a good film in the conventional sense, I was very much entertained. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Vulcan Son of Jupiter, from the Mill Creek Warriors 50 Pack. Anytime I watch a movie from a Mill Creek Collection, I like to mention it, because it is a cheap way to obtain 50 movies for around $19.99. This is not a bad Sword & Sandal movie, after pending the weekend in a marathon of Son of Hercules Movies, I was a little reluctant about watching this movie but I wanted to close out a 4 movie disk. I am glad I did watch this one as it brought me back up to watching more Sword & Sandal movies in the future. Vulcan is sent to earth by the Jupiter, On earth he is joined by Venus, Mars, and Pluto who is Gordon Mitchell who played in a number of Son of Hercules movies. Vulcan is played by Iloosh Khoshabe aka Rod Flash, and my movie cover list him as Richard Lloyd. On earth Vulcan falls in love with Etna who is played by Bella Cortez, and Venus who is running around with anyone in Sandal's is played by Annie Gorassini. Both of these women are beautiful and in 1961 they must have been in high demand in the European Film Industry. One thing about all the Hercules type movies I have seen, they always had beautiful leading ladies, can't say much for some of the faces in the crowd, but the leading ladies were beautiful. We see a lot of different things in this movie not seen in others, Lizard Men, a Midget that is Vulcan's best friend, Underground creatures, this one has it all. Its an enjoyable 76 Minutes, I have to give it 4 stars based on how I rated the others. Its worth seeing, and if I was a sword and sandal collector it would be one of my first to put in collection Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
