Kristen Yoonsoo Kim New York Times The film's landscape shots look breathtakingly real, but animated figures, especially during fight scenes, are tripped up by a dimension-flattening veneer that makes "White Snake" look more like an iPhone game. Nov 28, 2019 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com There's not enough on-screen to make this listless time-waster worth recommending. Rated: 2/4 Nov 27, 2019 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter A superior effort that should find enthusiastic audiences on our shores. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Kate Harrold Flickering Myth White Snake proves that animation is more than children's entertainment. Rated: 4.5/5 Nov 3, 2021 Full Review Kevin L. Lee Film Inquiry White Snake is a romance at heart that was stretched and mixed into an action epic. The film's ideas don't work all the time, but it is fun to see the filmmakers try. Mar 7, 2020 Full Review Christopher L. Inoa Hyperallergic It's obvious that the team created this world with great care. Unfortunately, this level of detail does not extend to the overall story and characters. Feb 27, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Calvin O I really loved how the animation was created, it was awesome 👍 I really did enjoyed it 😊😁 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Logan D An assassin is sent to kill a warlord. She's also a snake spirit. After she's injured and loses her memory, she's cared for by a tribe of snake killers. Love ensues. Enjoyed this more than I anticipated. The animation is stunning, especially the mountains covered in red leaved trees. There's an amazingly weird sequence in the middle with weird little guys that sticks with me. It's a respectable effort and I'm willing to give the sequel a shot as well. Amp Wong is my new favorite name of all time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review Z K i x Editz after watch this movie i started to make 3d animation Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/12/23 Full Review Mike H One of the most beautifully animated films I've ever seen. Great story and interesting characters. The action sequences are nicely balanced with scenes of calm and pure beauty, unlike it's disappointing sequel Green Snake. The only minor negative was the dog which was so cartoonish it looked weird and stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the semi-realism of the other animated elements. Overall, well worth watching. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review TimeFliesAway The animation. Damn. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Late R After having watched 2021's ‘Nezha Reborn' made by the same studio and finding it somewhat lacking in a number of areas, I wasn't expecting much from a film that was made a couple of years before it. Safe to say this took me by surprise. Apart from the facial designs of the characters still being a bit bland and some stiff movements here and there, ‘White Snake' is far superior in every other way. It has a lovely, touching, and better scripted story (comparatively – there's still room for improvement) that's once again inspired by Chinese myth; the characters are more interesting, have more depth and better designs; and the action is a much more fun to watch. As for the animation itself, it's stronger in every regard and so much nicer to look at thanks to art that's a bit more stylised, as well as another gorgeous demonstration of light and colour use. Quite simply, ‘White Snake' does a fine job of translating Chinese myth to the big screen in an entertaining way. Btw, it's not a film for young kids.
