DanTheMan 2 Just Heroes is far from John Woo's finest hour, but even then there's a lot to love about this minor classic, with Woo's trademarked heroic bloodshed coming out in full force during the finale. Commissioned by Tsui Hark to raise retirement money for a broke Chang Cheh, John Woo's main influence and tutor, Cheh then spent said money on making another film instead. Woo only directed about 60% of this and his style is plainly obvious when compared to the 40% helmed by Wu Ma. It's the kind of film that desperately needs another 20-30 minutes to let all its ideas flow, it feels rushed which doesn't surprise me given how quickly it was thrown together, the pedestrian script could have done with some tightening up. Despite this, Just Heroes boasts a funky musical score, some great performances from David Chiang, Danny Lee and a young Stephen Chow and is packed full of intrigue even in a routine-like mob world with elements that feel like they belong to a Takeshi Kitano yakuza thriller. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member HK action scenes by John Woo are always kick ass, but this is missing a Charismatic star to carry it along, and so it gets a bit dull when there isn't any ultra-violent bloodshed. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member the two action sequences by john woo are great. if you're gonna watch it, it's gonna be for that. the cast is pretty good too but due to unenjoyable story, the movie is basically awful. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A grandious Combination of HK Action, Psychothriller and Melodrama it's about a Organziation of Triads which Boss are assianted now they accuse each other the Murder and intrigate against eacht other they kill their Opponents, their Wifes or force them to Suicide until the Hard Core remains and are ready to the Final Shootout Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Pour permetre au maitre du cinema de Hong-Kong, Chang Cheh, d'avoir droit a une retraite confortable une grande partie de ces disciples (acteurs, realisateurs...) se sont retrouvés pour tourner ce film...
